Kim K & Kanye West Haven’t Picked A Baby Name Yet, But Even North Has A Suggestion
The newest addition to the Kardashian-West clan is just about ready for her highly anticipated worldwide debut (i.e. she's about to be born, y'all). But according to a new report by Us Weekly, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's third baby's name hasn't been chosen just yet.
The 37-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians stair and 40-year-old rap superstar are expecting their third child via an anonymous surrogate, and the tiny tot is reportedly due just after the Christmas holiday. But as an anonymous source claimed to Us Weekly, "Kim and Kanye don't have a name picked out yet for the new baby." The source added, "They are both so excited for their little girl to arrive."
Kim K first confirmed that she and West were indeed expecting a daughter when she accidentally revealed the sex of the baby during a Nov. 15 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Eager inquiries were already circulating, but Kardashian insisted that — as far as baby names go — she was at just as much of a loss as everybody else.
Kardashian told DeGeneres,
"At the baby shower, I was like, 'I just want everyone to write a name on a little tile and see if there is something that sticks.' We're freaking out, we have no name."
But, while she might not have made up her mind, 4-year-old North seemed to have a couple of suggestions as to the naming of her unborn baby sis. Or rather, one particular suggestion. "[North] has a toy, a llama," Kardashian explained later on during the talkshow interview. "She named it Star West. She names everything Star West."
And, while "Star West" might seem oddly fitting for a child whose father's latest claim to fame is quite literally called Famous, Kim K said she wasn't having it. "I'm not vibing with it," Kardashian said of North's, ahem, creative baby name pitch. And that was the end of that.
Anticipation surrounding the arrival of the unnamed (for now, at least) Kardashian-West baby has been brewing for several months now, since news of the couple's imminent new addition first broke last July. Whispers of a surrogate carrying baby number 3 were already buzzing at the time, but it wasn't until mid-November that Kim K finally opened up about the experience — which is a new one for her. Kardashian gave birth to her first two children, 4-year-old North and 1-year-old Saint, naturally. But as KUWTK viewers saw for themselves, Kardashian endured some pretty onerous complications during both pregnancies, so her decision to go the surrogate route didn't come as a total shock to fans.
Still, as Kardashian expressed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the surrogacy process has not been without its share of obstacles. "I hated being pregnant and I never thought I'd ever ... I thought this was going to be so easy, but you know, even in how much I hated it, if I could do it myself I would have preferred that," Kardashian said. "So, that inner struggle is kind of hard, but I am just rolling with it and it is what it is."
So, in conclusion, what do we know about the name of Kardashian and West's unborn child? Not a whole lot. But, if "North" and "Saint" were any marker of the couple's taste in monikers, the soon-to-be name of baby will probably be impossible to predict. Because, as far as inventive baby names go, the Kardashian-West duo has set a pretty lofty precedent for themselves (two lofty precedents, really). And given their joint status as masters at the art of the media-fueled shock value, they're expected to deliver. (Pun intended.)
