Kim Kardashian Says She's Less Materialistic After Her Robbery
Making her first appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show since she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, Kim Kardashian revealed how the horrific incident has changed her life, and it seems like she’s happy with the person she’s become. In the interview, Kardashian explained that she’s happy that her kids get to be raised by a mom who is less materialistic.
"I know this sounds crazy," Kardashian told DeGeneres, "but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don't want to start crying, but I feel like that was so meant to happen to me. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things."
Kardashian appeared visibly upset, and honestly, hearing her talk about the frightening events of the robbery definitely still gets me. Kardashian continued,
"I'm such a different person. I just don't want to start crying anymore. It was meant to happen to me. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things ... It was probably no secret, and you see it on the show — I was being flashy and I was definitely materialistic before ... I'm so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who I'm raising my kids. I just don't care about that stuff anymore. I really don't."
"Everyone gets so excited when they get things," Kardashian explained. "Of course, when you get engaged, you're going to show off your ring. If you get a new car — I don't care what kind it is — you get so proud and you get so happy and you show that off on social media." Kardashian however, is no longer interested in sharing those kinds of details with her followers.
"It's not worth it. Like, I don't care about that stuff. I don't care to show off the way that I used to. Even though there's nothing wrong, truly — it's OK if you're proud of that and you work so hard and you get something — it's just not who I am anymore."
Although nothing could make what she went through less horrible, it's certainly good that Kardashian has been able to grow from the experience, and it's awesome to hear how she feels like she's a better mother as a result.
