Kim Kardashian Just Posted A Photo Of Her Psoriasis & It's So Refreshingly Honest
Sometimes it seems like stars are immune to blemishes or other skin conditions, but think again. Kim Kardashian shared that her psoriasis is almost gone on her Instagram stories, and it's so refreshingly real. In an age where photoshopping and glamorous well-staged photos are taking over, it's nice to see an honest moment on a timeline. If you're struggling with the skin condition, Kardashian's tips might just help you out too.
The Kardashian's are known for sharing a large majority of their lives with their fans, and it looks like that includes just about everything — even when things aren't so perfect. Instead of sharing her posed Christmas cards or paparazzi ootds, Kardashian instead shared her progress with her skin condition. Because even the Kardashians deal with things like this.
She posted a photo to her Instagram stories saying, "OMG my psoriasis is almost gone! Best Christmas present!"
Although she didn't share exactly what she's been using to get rid of the skin condition, People has all of the details. According to an interview with the star, Kardashian uses light therapy to treat her psoriasis.
"I have been using this light — and I don’t wanna speak to soon because [the psoriasis] is almost gone — but I’ve been using this light [therapy] and my psoriasis is like 60 percent gone,” Kardashian said in the People interview. “That’s wild because it hasn’t been gone in years.”
Kardashian has been open with her journey with psoriasis since 2010, according to her app. She also talked about it on Keeping Up With The Kardashians in 2011. According to the KUWTK episode, she has the skin condition on her leg, which results in red, splotchy patches. At first, she wasn't so open with sharing the news.
In the episode, Kardashian shares her worries about what the tabloids will think and says she has to much pressure on her to look perfect. She also mentions that her mom, Kris Jenner, deals with psoriasis as well. The doctor tells her to "lead an easier, slower paced life." While she hasn't exactly taken that news, it looks like she's done something to help get rid of the psoriasis on her legs.
In 2011, she said that she uses the Sally Hanson Airbrush Leg Spray to cover her psoriasis. She's also mentions on other KUWTK episodes telling photographers that it's something they'll need to edit out. Of course, that's not a long-term.
It's nice to see that Kardashian is finally sharing her journey with psoriasis instead of just covering it up. She has talked freely about it on her app in recent months, and even gave some of her tips for getting rid of it. Although, of course, she's not a doctor.
"Psoriasis has impacted my life since I was first diagnosed in 2010. After having had it for over seven years, I feel like I've accepted it, but there are still times when I can feel insecure about it," Kardashian says on her app, according to Allure.
It doesn't get more normal than that. According to Allure, she credits a healthy diet and seaweed based products to helping with her psoriasis as well. Although Live Science says that psoriasis cannot be cured, there are ways to live a more comfortable life with it — as Kardashian has shown. It hasn't stopped her from posing completely nude or showing off her body on the red carpet.
It's worth noting that you should always consult your doctor before testing out celebrity tips and tricks. It is great to see Kardashian sharing her seven years of tips and tricks with the world though. Who knows, a skincare line could just be on the way.
