If you haven't seen La La Land, record the Golden Globes and head straight to the theater because you are 1. missing out and 2. not going to understand the rest of this article. For those of you who have watched the Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone film (which has been garnering lots and lots of praise from both critics and movie-goers), then you probably noticed that Jimmy Fallon's bangs in the opening scenes paid homage to Sebastian, Gosling's brooding jazz pianist character. It definitely got a legitimate LOL out of me and as it turns out, I'm not the only one who appreciated the spot-on impression.
The 2017 Golden Globes opened with Jimmy Fallon singing a song about the awards show set to the tune of La La Land's "Another Day Of Sun." After dancing around on the red carpet with Amy Adams, Evan Rachel Wood, and Kit Harrington, the camera cuts to the host playing the chords from the movie's theme song, "City Of Stars." (Instead, he sings, "Room full of stars.") As the camera pans out, you can see Fallon's silhouette, complete with piecey bangs — the same ones that Gosling sported in the film as he played the piano ballad in a smoky jazz club.
Now here's Ryan Gosling in La La Land:
Well played, Jimmy Fallon.
SPOT. ON.
We are #dead too.
Gretchen loves it.
So does Angie.
So LOL-worthy.
Here's the entire opening scene for those of you who missed it:
Fingers crossed for more La La Land references!
