Jada Pinkett Was '80s Perfection At The 2017 BET Awards

An award ceremony is never complete without a gold dress walking down the red carpet, and Jada Pinkett Smith was the one to gift us with that image this year. Pinkett Smith at the 2017 BET Awards was pure glamour and glitz, making her way down the red carpet in a floor length dress that heralded back to the gilded excess of 1980s Manhattan or L.A. The amount of sparkle her gilded sequins gave was a megawatt electric shock, and it was like seeing the best of the '80s fed back into the system.

To paint you a visual, it was liquid gold flowing all the way to the ground, with a thigh high slit that allowed her to slink down the carpet. The neckline was a halter that gave the gown a vintage touch, and a long, gold sequined sash wrapped around her neck and trailed dramatically behind her as she walked. Some would argue that the '80s produced a lot of horror when it came to fashion — from doorknocker earrings to puffball skirts that could only be paired with frizzy bangs — but Pinkett Smith brought out the best of it.

She looked like she belonged in a producer's party in a New York City penthouse, sipping on cool champagne and being slightly bored with the scene. It was perfection in every way.

She kept her hair slicked back and her makeup appropriately smokey, adding to the overall glamazon image rather than detracting from the look. It might be too early to say which was the best look of the BET Awards, but this one was a strong contender.
