Issa Rae's 2017 Golden Globes Dress Is Stunning

When speaking about Issa Rae, only one word come to mind: This woman is unbelievably damn cool. From her low key style to her awkwardly perfect character on HBO's Insecure, she exudes coolness in a way that's totally relatable. Issa Rae's 2017 Golden Globes outfit was no exception to her coolness: In fact, it only enhanced it tenfold.

Rae's look was styled by Ayanna James, the wardrobe designer on Insecure, and also Rae's stylist off the set. According to People, James describes Rae's style as "very basic. Like extremely basic. I tell her all the time, ‘Can you want the nicer things in life? Issa is all about her work, so her personal style is very comfortable because, especially now, she’s got a lot to do. Typically she wears Converse, skinny jeans, a T-shirt and a jacket I bought her."

Though that might be her day-to-day vibe, Rae was anything but basic on the Golden Globes red carpet on Jan. 8. She wore a floor-length white Christian Siriano gown with a high neckline. encrusted with hundreds of gorgeous beads. Her hair looked amazing in a long, twisted bun — and it all came together with that impressive, one of a kind smile.

Rae nabbed a Golden Globes nomination for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical for Insecure. It's her first, but given the critical acclaim that Insecure was met with, it likely won't be her last.
