The 'Buffy' Cast Is Closer Than You'd Expect

We've officially been slayed. A big shoutout to Entertainment Weekly for blessing fans with huge dose of nostalgia in their latest issue, as the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunited for the show's 20th anniversary. And with this epic reunion upon us, the lingering question is: Are the Buffy cast members still friends after so many years?

I mean, sure, you'd expect that they'd get together every so often for events related to the show, and that's most certainly been true since the series wrapped in 2003. However, you may be surprised to know that many of the former cast members have actually kept in touch much more than you'd expect.

According to a 2014 interview with HuffPost Live, Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed that she and former Buffy co-star, Seth Green, have been life-long friends, and that she's pretty much known Michelle Trachtenberg since she was 5 years old, so she keeps in touch with them regularly. As for former on-screen love interest, David Boreanaz, SMG said that they will always be friends, revealing that at one time she was able to see him quite often. That's because she was shooting her short-lived sitcom, The Crazy Ones, on the same lot as Boreanaz's show, Bones.

It may also come as a shock to some that Gellar and her TV bestie, Alyson Hannigan, who were once rumored to be at odds, have also reconnected in recent years. The now 39-year-old former vampire slayer even attended Hannigan's daughter's birthday party back in 2015, signaling an end to their alleged feud.

Luckily for fans of the show, it appears that all is well among the cast members, since the gang's gotten back together in celebration of the two decade anniversary.

It's great to see everyone reunited — and looking pretty good, might I add — after 20 years. Even the show's creator, Joss Whedon, was amazed at how well the entire cast has aged over the years. He joked with Entertainment Weekly,

“This is surreal ... For the most part, this is like a high school reunion but much worse because they all still look really great. I was hoping some of them would puff out a bit. But that did not take place.”

The gathering, which partially took place as a photoshoot in a cemetery, included Whedon, Gellar, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Seth Green, Charisma Carpenter, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kristine Sutherland, Alexis Denisof, and Nicholas Brendon.

Sheesh... they really look amazing. This photo certainly proves that there may be some truth to the theory that vampires (and slayers) never age. #BuffySlays20
