Shemar Moore Isn't Married, But He'd Sure Like To Be
The actor and former model's love life has always been a little ambiguous, and for that reason no one will blame you for wondering if Shemar Moore is married. Currently, it appears as if the 47-year-old may even be single, so, if you've been carrying a torch for the former Criminal Minds star, now could be the perfect time to slide into those DMs (Moore's Instagram bio does lead with "Let's flirt, goofball, inspire," after all).
The last time the actor was in a confirmed exclusive relationship was back in summer 2016, when he was still with pro soccer player Shawna Gordon. He announced the relationship to TMZ in January 2015, bragging that his new lady was the "#1 HOTTEST chick in pro sports" and that "If she stands up and turns around you might just faint."
Moore also brought his girlfriend on The Ellen Show in February 2015, and, after his host observed he'd appeared on the show eight times before and this was the first time he'd appeared on the show while in a relationship, he reassured her that just because he was now coupled up didn't mean he was going to stop flirting. That maaaaaaybe wasn't the most tactful thing to say in front of your new girlfriend.
He seemed over the moon about his girlfriend, describing her as someone who challenged him and made him smile. He even argued that a member of his family saw it coming:
"My grandmother told me a long time ago, she's up there smiling at me, she said I told you, I told you, when you least expect it, she’s going to show up and bite you on the tush."
But given the fact that the pair haven't been spotted together since summer 2016, when Hollywood Live saw Moore and Gordon indulging in some PDA and the fact that there's no sign of the pair together on either of their Instagram accounts, it seems unlikely they're still a couple.
The strange part of all of this is that marriage does seem to be on Moore's mind. On announcing that he was leaving the show Criminal Minds in 2016, where Moore played Derek Morgan for over 11 years, he argued that, alongside developing as an actor, he wanted more time for his private life. He stated:
"I need balance in my life. I love what I do for a living, I love it from ‘action’ to ‘cut’, but I also want to walk my dogs, travel, get married, have kids. I want balance, and it’s hard to do with the schedule that we have."
Appropriately enough, his character also left the BAU to focus on his wife Savannah and their family, so it's great the two are still on the same page with regards to their personal lives.
According to MSN, there could be a new woman in the picture, even if the relationship doesn't sound particularly serious. When reality TV star Phaedra Parks was asked if she was dating anyone at the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion in January 2017, she told Bravo's Andy Cohen "I am not," before adding, "Well, you hooked me up with somebody and we chat from now and then." Cohen replied "Shemar Moore?" and asked her if she intended to date him she said "We'll see."
This kind of makes sense — after all, the pair met on Watch What Happens Live in December 2016 and flirted a bunch and even kissed a little. In fact, this was also the same show in which Moore expressed his hope that he would one day get married. When asked if he was single he explained he was dating, but "there's no ring on my finger" and stressed his desire to be successful with someone by his side, saying, "if I keep doing it my way and go to my so called mountain top, I don't want to get there by myself." He continued "I'm blessed with this life, but I want to share it with somebody. I'm excited to say I do and excited to be a daddy."
So in a nutshell, no, your TV crush is not married. But he'd sure like to be.
