During the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, Cher accepted the Icon Award while singing her hits, including "Believe" and "If I Turn Back Time." But is Cher lip syncing during the 2017 Billboard Music Awards? Bustle has reached out to the artist's rep for comment, but did not hear back in time for publication. If Cher was, Twitter was totally OK with it, because it's Cher. Gwen Stefani presented the Icon Award to Cher and reminded the audience of Cher's extensive career, which has spanned five decades. Yup, you read that right.

So really, if Cher wants to lip sync, we're all going to watch and enjoy it anyway, because it's Cher and she earned it. Her first performance was her 1998 hit "Believe," which '90s kids will remember being a cool dance song that used auto tune. So it's understandable if it didn't exactly sound like Cher as she performed the song on stage at the BBMAs stage at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas — auto tune and live vocals would sound totally different. Besides, the 71-year-old singer didn't miss a step as she moved with her backup dancers and that is awesome.

Then, Cher went on to sing her 1989 song "If I Could Turn Back Time," which did not have auto tune and it sounded like Cher was definitely singing.

As for Twitter, users were just happy to see Cher rocking it on stage.

One user was just like, it's Cher, so it's cool.

Another Twitter user said she's earned it, so deal with it.

This user thought the performance looked like the TV show Lip Sync Battles.

But some users were disappointed by any potential use of lip syncing.

In any case, the performances made one thing clear: Cher is still an icon and she is awesome.
