In its continued role as the unofficial 2017 social media Santa Claus, Instagram has rolled out another new feature to help make your holiday videos and snaps merry and bright. If you're ready to up your 2017 holiday insta game, here's how to get Instagram's new Superzoom options. "If you’ve been playing with Superzoom to record funny videos with dramatic sound, you can now try out new zoom and sound effects," Instagram wrote in a blog post. The features will be rolling out over the next few weeks so you can add holiday cheer to your selfies, holidays snaps, videos, and more.
Seriously, Instagram has been rolling out so many boss new features that it's hard not to spend all of your time scrolling. But, don't feel bad. You deserve a little extra scroll time to help you recover from the horrors of 2017, and Instagram has got your back. Earlier this week Instagram released its new hashtag follow feature, which allows you to follow the hashtags you're currently obsessed with so you don't have to go trolling for pictures of cute dogs or epic beauty-blog fails.
Now, new Superzoom options are giving hungry insta addicts even more ways to pass cold winter days by brightening up their Instagram feeds with all the 2017 holiday feels. "You’ll see three new face filters to get into the festive spirit — celebrate the occasion with balloons bursting with confetti, try out different holiday makeup looks or even draw a heart in snow-frosted glass for a friend," Instagram noted.
How To Get Instagram Superzoom Options
If you're ready to add some 2017 holiday cheer to your Instagram feed and stories, simply tap the music icon to choose from “Bounce,” “Beats,” or “TV Show,” Instagram explained. "You’ll find 'Superzoom' under the record button next to 'Boomerang' in the camera." Similar to the Halloween face filters, Instagram has added some festive 2017 holiday filters so you can share your holiday cheer with all of your real and virtual friends.
"You’ll see three new face filters to get into the festive spirit — celebrate the occasion with balloons bursting with confetti, try out different holiday makeup looks, or even draw a heart in snow-frosted glass for a friend," Instagram explained on its blog. "To see these face filters, swipe right to open the camera, and tap the face icon in the bottom right corner."
Over the coming weeks you'll also be able to dress up your Instagram posts and stories with holiday themed stickers for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. "Whether you’re celebrating winter or summer in December, you’ll see a set of seasonal stickers as well. And, to make it even easier to find your favorite stickers and emojis, you’ll now be able to search for them by keyword in English."
It's kind of like being able to create your own social media holiday cards, which is perfect for people like me who are allergic to the post office. If all of this holiday cheer isn't enough for you, iPhone users can access updated color filters in the Instagram camera. "Simply tap the camera icon in the top left of the screen or swipe right from anywhere in feed," Instagram explained. "Once you’ve captured your moment, swipe left or right to discover different color filters then tap ‘next’ to add to your story or send to friends directly."
If your family — like your technology-challenged parents and grandparents — aren't on Instagram, just screenshot your holiday creations and send them your homemade social media holiday cards via text or email. It's a great way to spread 2017 holiday cheer while also being mindful of the environment because you're not sending snail-mail cards that will just get thrown away. In order to see all of these new Instagram gems, make sure to update your app to the 26.0 version so you can start getting merry and bright ASAP.
