Snapchat’s New 3D Bitmoji Will Revolutionize Your Social Media Game
If you haven't heard, Snapchat just released a new update that comes fully stocked with the newest wave of animated Bitmojis — and this time, they're actually 3D, and you can insert them in any one of your Snaps. So, you're going to want to know ASAP how to get the new 3D Bitmojis, because they're about to make your Snap game a lot more entertaining. That's right, not only are they 3D, but they're animated. Remember the Lizzie McGuire OG Bitmoji that narrated her inner thoughts? This new feature is literally exactly like that, sans narration.
Despite not including narration, though, they're incredibly expressive and deeply relatable. Once you start using the augmented reality world lens scenes that feature the Bitmojis, you're going to seriously have to stop and wonder if Snapchat is has hacked your brain because they are all too #relatable. Basically it's just an addition to the world lens, now instead of just puking clouds, there are little animated versions of yourself who interact with an augmented reality in a hilariously dramatic way. From the coffee drinker who just can't wake up to the skateboarder who is so impressed with herself for landing a trick after almost eating it, you're going to be feeling very well represented.
Snapchat has you covered with these new 3D Bitmojis; you're going to have no trouble expressing yourself to the fullest in your stories. But first, here's how to use them:
Get The Update
The new 3D Bitmoji lens is only available in the newest Snapchat update. If you haven't already, head to the app store and download the newest version. You might need to reboot your phone or clear out some storage in order to do this. It's good to get in the habit of regularly checking for updates so that you don't miss out on anything!
Make Sure You Have Bitmojis
If you haven't already created a Bitmoji for yourself, you'll want to do that ASAP. It's super fast and simple, and you only have to do it once. To do this, head to your profile page and tap the top left icon that says "Create Bitmoji" next to a face with a plus sign in it. From there, it will walk you through all the steps to making your best digital mini-me.
Select The Right Camera
For now, the 3D Bitmojis are only available in the rear-facing camera. So once you open your updated version of Snapchat, make sure that you tap the camera that faces out. This will activate your world lens camera bag, which is where the new lenses will be hiding.
Find The Lens
The new Bitmoji lenses are organized by scene. For example, to activate the scene in which a frustrated yogi gets distracted by a butterfly, you'll tap the lens that has a butterfly icon. To activate the skateboarding Bitmoji, you'll look for the lens with the skateboard icon.
Scale To Fit
This new lens gives you a lot of room for creativity. You can control the size of your Bitmoji in the scene by pinching in or out. You can also choose what surface you want your Bitmoji to be on. You might want to even play around with a few surfaces until you find the perfect place for it.
Shoot And Share
Once you get your Bitmoji looking good, simply hold down the record button and let it do its thing. You can move the camera around and the lens will adapt, creating a seamless augmented reality. Once you've tagged and decorated the story to your liking, simply share it individually with friends or add to your story as you would with any other post. You can also save it to your camera roll or your memory page to keep it around forever.
