Serena & Alexis' Engagement Comes Full Circle

If you were surprised to learn of Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian's engagement, you're not the only one. It certainly came as a shock to just about everyone, especially because those Drake/Serena Williams rumors kinda overpowered anything about the tennis pro dating the Reddit co-founder (hot rapper trumps bro-tech guy in the pop culture world, apparently). But now that Williams and Ohanian are happily engaged, it's time to dig a little deeper into their relationship. Like, how did they even meet in the first place?

According to an Us Weekly source, the two "met at a lunch," the insider revealed to the magazine back in October 2015. Williams' engagement announcement — where else but on Reddit? — offered a little more details about their meeting (and the proposal), revealing that they first met at lunch in Rome.

"I came home/ A little late/ Someone had a bag packed for me/ And a carriage awaited/ Destination: Rome/ To escort me to my very own 'charming'/ Back to where our stars first collided/ And now it was full circle," she wrote. "At the same table we first met by chance/ This time he made it not by chance/ But by choice/ Down on one knee/ He said 4 words/ And/ r/isaidyes."

These two seem blissfully in love after reportedly beginning their relationship after those Drake rumors cooled down. An E! source said of the family: "They've never seen Serena this happy before with a man. It sounds cheesy, but it was love at first sight."

"They laugh non-stop and that really fuels their relationship," the insider continued. "They are on the same page in life and are excited to start something great."
