Someone's Missing In This 'Pitch Perfect 3' Photo
In the beginning, the Barden Bellas created the heavens and the earth — or at least the cinematic equivalent, via their awesome vocal chords and rocking beats. And the movie executives said, "Let there be Pitch Perfect 3" or something like that. Then, Pitch Perfect 3 began getting created and audiences rejoiced, until lo! They wondered, "Why isn't Hailee Steinfeld in the Pitch Perfect 3 photo?" A picture from set was recently published on Twitter by star Rebel Wilson, documenting what looks like the first day of filming, and fans began wondering about Steinfeld's whereabouts.
The genesis (!) of the missing Steinfeld hubbub under Wilson's tweet is surely that everyone's a little confused. After all, when you feast your eyes on so many familiar faces, you couldn't be blamed for stopping to ask where Steinfeld is. Still, the photo confirms that the Pitch Perfect franchise has a seriously loyal original cast with Wilson (Fat Amy), Anna Kendrick (Beca), Kelley Jakle (Jessica), Anna Camp (Aubrey), Hana Mae Lee (Lilly), Shelley Regner (Ashley), Brittany Snow (Chloe), Chrissie Fit (Flo), and Ester Dean (Cynthia Rose) all present and accounted for, which is kind of crazy considering how famous both Wilson and Kendrick are these days. But where was Pitch Perfect 2's freshman Emily Junk?
Worry not, my eagle-eyed Pitch Perfect fans. While she is not in the photo, Steinfeld already confirmed she'd be back during an August 2016 interview with E! Online. So why isn't she in the photo? According to Hollywood Life, Steinfeld is busy prepping for the Golden Globes — she's been nominated for Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture for her work in The Edge of Seventeen. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for the star, who sounds, ahem, a little bit excited about the occasion.
Sadly, not every familiar face will be returning for the third movie though. Skylar Astin, who played Jesse Swanson in both Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 tweeted the following :
Still — we shouldn't get greedy. We've got a great, ultra-excited looking cast, and despite Steinfeld's notable absence in the photo, she's on board. If you haven't touched your brand-new calendar yet, I've got a date to break it in with: Dec. 22, when the third installment of your favorite series of musical movies drops. Be there.
