With the new year comes new engagement announcements — and they're not just flooding in from your Facebook timeline. While it seems like everyone and their mother got engaged as the clock struck midnight on January 1st, celebs are pitching in with their fair share of nuptial announcements. Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, the co-creator of fan-favorite shows like American Horror Story, Glee, and Scream Queens, spilled the beans that they're getting married. The announcement came in Goop magazine's second edition, no less. Fittingly, the second edition is a "Sex & Love"-themed issue, where the two are splashed across the cover, beaming like kids in love are usually wont to do. Wearing matching outfits of jeans and white T-shirts, Flachuk is standing behind Patrow and has his arms wrapped behind her, but both her hands are pivoted from the shot, hiding that tell-tale sparkle. But once you see Paltrow's engagement ring in the pages of the mag, your mouth is going to drop open.

Granted, it's not the mammoth size of Paris Hilton's new engagement ring — which is so big it looks like a cereal box prize — but Paltrow's is unique and beautiful just the same.

While Goop's magazine issue has all the things you would expect it to have on its printed pages — from "luxurious, toxin-free yoni products" (don't ask, I don't know) to romantic destinations you can fly to with your bb — it also has some surprisingly candid moments from the star.

She admitted that she and Falchuk have already been engaged for a year, and are now ready to share their news with the rest of the public. The couple met on the set of Glee in 2014, when she did a cameo for the show, and they have been inseparable ever since. She also wrote about how hard it was allowing herself to fall in love a second time, and opening herself up to a new person. Paltrow did a "conscious uncoupling" from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2014, which was a kind of divorce that made each of them look inwards to see why the marriage ended, rather than blaming the other partner. That didn't make the breakup any easier on her though, where she admitted that the divorce “used to feel like a failure; it took me a while to reframe that divorce isn’t a failure.”

Now that she has found love again and has allowed herself to grow in it privately for a year, she is now ready to share her happiness with the rest of her fans and subscribers. Across Goop magazine, we see her and Falchuk in different stages of embraces and cuddles (as expected,) but one photo in particular gives us a peek at the engagement ring. You can see it up close here.

In an image from the cover shoot, the couple is pointed towards each other, where Falchuk is kissing her on the cheek and she's grinning up at the camera, her arm swung over his shoulder and the ring on wide display.

And while most of us are used to the white sparkle of a diamond when it comes to an engagement ring, the couple decided to go a less traditional route. While set on a simple band, the rock itself is anything but ordinary. The size of a gumball, the gem is the only jewel on the ring. The photo was shot in black and white so it is hard to pinpoint what kind of gem it is, but since it photographed dark rather than white, it is safe to assume it is not a diamond. It could possibly be a sapphire or some other dark-hued jewel.

Whatever it is, here's to wishing happiness to the newly-ish hitched couple —and to the very Goop-y wedding that will ensue.
