Have you tried every shampoo in the haircare aisle, but your dry split ends are still in the same state they were a month ago? Have you tried salon-quality conditioners, but your bleached hair still feels brittle? Does your hair feel oily on top but dry on the bottom and there's no fix for your combination tresses? If you feel like there isn't a shampoo out there that can cater to your tricky hair needs, then you're in luck. You no longer have to wait for a hair mogul to come up with a new collection; you can just make your own. That's where Function of Beauty comes in.

The people over at Funtion of Beauty believe your shampoo and conditioner should be as unique as you and your hair, and they don't think that one formula should be a one-size-fits-all thing. Everyone has different needs, and to address them, you need your own special cocktail.

Launching the company and concept in 2015 was a heavily scientific ordeal. It took years of scientific research and two MIT-educated engineers to create the algorithms, leverage the technology, and analyze data to create products that will actually bring results.

So how does it exactly work? Incredibly, there are 12 billion possible formulations, meaning you can really get into the nitty-gritty of what you need. And in order to figure out exactly what you need, you take a "Hair Profile" quiz to see what your products should focus on.

To start, you choose between four hair types (straight, wavy, curly, or coily,) three different hair structures (fine, medium, or coarse,) and three different scalp moisture levels (dry, normal, or oily.)

After that you choose up to five hair goals you want to achieve with your new regimen. There are 17 different options to choose from, and you can pick between choices like "lengthen," "color protection," "anti-frizz," "oil control," and "heat protection," to name a few.

Once you have the practical terms down, you can then move on to customizing the actual look of your beauty kit. You can choose the color of both your shampoo and conditioner, choosing between six different options: purple, blue, pink, orange, teal, or dye-free. You can then choose the fragrance of the set, weighing between charmingly named scents like "all (you)calyptus," "hibis(kiss)," "musk-have," "peony tail," and "feeling (f)ineapple."

Not sure how a scent would exactly smell? No worries. You can click on one of the scent options, and a breakdown of its notes is shown in a math-like equation, sharing its two main notes, the "feeling" of the scent (does it feel like adventure or like roots? Does it remind you of linen, or of mountains?) and the personality of the perfume (is it bold, energizing, or does it pop?)

Afterwards, you can even tailor how strong you want the scent to be: Light, medium, or strong.

Once all that's squared away, you can make the combination uniquely yours by customizing it with your name. You can write down either your first name or nickname, and it will be splashed across the box and bottles to make it feel uniquely yours. Remember, with 12 billion combinations available, there's a chance literally no one else in the world has a set like you do.

Lastly, you can choose the sizes of your bottles (either eight or 16oz,) and how frequently you would like the boxes to come (either every month, two months, or three.)

And the best part is that if you try out the product and it doesn't fix your hair the way you hoped it would, you will be offered a free refund within the first 30 days. There's literally no risk and all reward. And your best hair could be right around the corner.

If you feel like your hair products haven't been cutting it, try creating your own personalized set. It could be a total game changer.
