The Rock Gives An Emotional Shoutout To A Fan
While on location in Las Vegas for his HBO show Ballers, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared an emotional shoutout to a 13-year-old boy from Hawaii named Taitusi, who'd wanted to meet the actor. In the video, Johnson explains that he’d recently gotten a call from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and that although he couldn’t make a trip to visit Taitusi, he already knew a lot about him. "I want you to know even though I'm not able to see you and be with you," Johnson explained, "you're already one of the most amazing kids I have ever spoken to. You are stronger than I will ever be. Stay strong."
Johnson seemed to emotionally connect with Taitusi (you can totally hear it in his voice), and promised that he would "go crazy on Rice Krispies Treats" this upcoming weekend for a cheat meal in the child’s honor.
Johnson posted the video to Instagram with a caption reading,
Taitusi this message is for you. Make a Wish just called me and I wish I could be there with you in Hawaii right now. Even at 13yrs old you're already way stronger than I'll ever be. Ever. Even though we've never met, I can already tell you're one of the coolest and most amazing kids I've ever talked to like this. I just want you to know how amazing and special of young boy you are. You inspire every single person around you right now. Including me. God bless you and your family and yes I'm gonna go crazy on rice crispy treats this weekend for my cheat meal in your honor. Alofa atu, DJ.
His message to Taitusi isn't the first time Johnson has worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While shooting the Baywatch movie back in April 2016, he and co-star Zac Efron visited with two children who'd wished to meet Johnson. The actor shared a photo to Instagram of the meeting and said,
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who made Ashley's and her family's trip possible. So many people who I don't even know, but please know that I'm grateful from afar. Always say this, because it's true.. this is by far the best part of my fame.
In addition to being insanely talented, Johnson seems like a genuinely good guy. I mean, he uses his fame to inspire others, and I think that's pretty awesome.
