Optimus Prime's Fate Doesn't Look Too Promising
The Super Bowl is important for so many reasons, but one of them has to be the plethora of incredible trailers that are dropped throughout the game. While several amazing commercials have already been revealed ahead of Sunday's event, the Transformers: The Last Knight Super Bowl teaser is one of the best. The long-awaited sequel to 2014's Transformers: Age Of Extinction looks every bit as exciting as its predecessor. But the most important question fans are asking is, does Optimus Prime die in Transformers: The Last Knight? The Super Bowl teaser trailer has viewers concerned about the fate of their favorite character.
It certainly seems as though Optimus Prime is in serious trouble in Transformers: The Last Knight, and the new Super Bowl teaser only strengthens that concern. In the short clip, the world as we know it is over. The teaser starts with Anthony Hopkins asking, "You want to know, don't you? Why they keep coming here, to earth?" A lot of devastation follows, with the planet all but destroyed. Then the trailer ends with what looks like a pinnacle scene between Bumblebee and Optimus Prime violently fighting, though it's unclear who is winning.
Optimus Prime is incredibly aggressive throughout the exchange, but when coupled with the full-length trailer and the movie's synopsis, there's a strong indication that Optimus Prime dies in Transformers: The Last Knight. Of course, no one will know for sure until the movie actually premieres.
During a speech in the full-length trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight, Hopkins proclaims, "Optimus Prime has left us." Later in the trailer, someone says, "Only one survives," which seems to refer to the massive showdown between Bumblebee and Optimus. While the latter appears to be winning, if the footage is anything to go by, it's Bumblebee's spin-off that's coming in 2018, which suggests that everyone's favorite yellow friend is victorious in this particular battle.
The Super Bowl 2017 teaser for Michael Bay's latest looks all kinds of dramatic. Transformers: The Last Knight is coming on June 23, so you better prepare accordingly.
