HBO's Big Little Lies became one of the biggest hit TV shows of the spring — but its fate was up in the air due to many factors. Finally, fans seemingly have an answer: Reese Witherspoon hinted that Big Little Lies may have a Season 2 in an Instagram post on Sunday. The Oscar-winning actor posted a selfie alongside Big Little Lies co-stars Laura Dern and Nicole Kidman, sitting in director's chairs. They're all smiles and Kidman gives the camera two thumbs-up. "Spending Sunday Funday with these ladies," Witherspoon wrote in the photo caption. "Working on some new lies [monkey emojis]."

So, that hopeful post could very well mean Madeline, Celeste, and Renata will be back on our screens for a second season of Big Little Lies. Keep in mind, though, that the post isn't a firm confirmation, so don't plan your next trivia night just yet. (Bustle has reached out to HBO for comment, but hasn't heard back at this time.) But I have to say, the post is definitely a good sign. Just last month, Witherspoon told E! News that a Season 2 was definitely something that could happen. "Yeah, Nicole and I just spoke about it three days ago," Witherspoon said. "We're talking to Liane Moriarty, who wrote the book, about how could these characters go on, what would happen? We definitely left it open-ended so there's a possibility there."

Liane Moriarty, the author of the book on which the show is based, sounded like she was on-board for a second season. She told the Sydney Morning Herald that even though the book does not have a sequel, she would be willing to continue Big Little Lies, the TV series. "I have started to think about ways this could continue," Moriarty told the paper. "The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn't write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we'll see what happens."

So, it looks like fans could potentially be seeing more episodes featuring the women of Monterey on HBO soon.
