'Bach's Corinne & Taylor Were Never Going To Agree

ABC

It’s safe to say that sh*t got real last night on The Bachelor. Nick took the women to New Orleans and the season's highly anticipated showdown between Corinne and Taylor unfolded. As you may recall, Taylor told Corinne that she thinks she is "emotionally unintelligent" and too immature to win Nick's heart. And Corinne didn't like hearing that one bit. The two were chosen for the season's most awkward two-on-one date ever, making it the topic for this week's installment of Bustle's Bachelor podcast. During her one-on-one time with Nick, Corinne claimed that she was being bullied by Taylor. When Nick asked Taylor about this, she denied it and told him that her words were being twisted around and that Corinne was lying to the Bachelor.

Nick sided with Corinne in the end, but Bustle’s Senior Entertainment Editor Kelsea Stahler and Romper Senior News and Entertainment Editor Allison Piwowarski disagree on whether or not Corinne was being truthful. On this week’s episode of Will You Accept This Podcast? (which you can listen to here), Kelsea believes that Corinne genuinely felt bullied by what Taylor was saying, whereas Allison thinks Corinne knew what she had to do to get Taylor out of the picture.

Either way, whether you’re donning a “Make Corinne Great Again” baseball cap (I know, too soon) or searching online for a “Team Taylor” shirt, it's clear this Bachelor blowout needed to happen. This tension has been building up since the bouncy house incident and it was obvious that these headstrong women were not going to let this feud blow over smoothly. Despite being a diehard Gemini and fully understanding both sides of where these women are coming from, I’m with Corinne on this one. Taylor was somewhat of a bully, if only because she refused to let things go. She made it clear, like, really clear that she felt Corinne was emotionally unintelligent and on the show for the wrong reasons. And, she also made sure to express her opinions in the most condescending way possible, so it's no wonder that Corinne was left feeling attacked and hurt by Taylor's words.

Although Corinne doesn't seem like the easiest person to get along with, she doesn't deserve to be called unintelligent. Being that Taylor has a master's degree mental health counseling, you would think that she would know that making someone feel inferior based on their intelligence is not cool. She might not have explicitly been a bully, but she was definitely trying to knock Corinne down this season, and no one deserves that. But, in the end, Taylor’s efforts to get Corinne out of the running backfired. It goes to show that Corinne was right, “Bullies never get a happy ending.”
