Celeb Fans Mourn George Michael On Twitter
On Sunday, Dec. 25, unexpected news broke when it was announced that George Michael died at the age of 53. According to the BBC, he "passed away peacefully at home." As soon as the news was announced, fans began mourning the singer on Twitter, and that includes many celebrity George Michael fans.
Michael was best known for his hits during the '80s and '90s, both solo and with the duo Wham! (along with Andrew Ridgeley), including "Careless Whisper," "Faith," "One More Try," and, making the news of his death on this particular day hit all the harder, the modern holiday classic, "Last Christmas."
Michael's publicist released the following statement to The Mirror about his death,
It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.
