If you crack open your trusty dictionary and look up the words “worth,” “the,” and “wait,” a photo of Carly Slay’s entire catalog will appear right before your eyes. (I’d apologize for the corny dictionary joke, but I’m too blissed out over the new Carly Slay to care.) The “Call Me Maybe” pop star always delivers, and her latest offering is no exception. Late Thursday night, Carly Rae Jepsen dropped “Cut To The Feeling,” a song that will be included on the soundtrack for upcoming animated movie Leap!. The queen of catchy pop hooks and feel-good music has blessed us with another banger, and we are not worthy.

“Cut To The Feeling” has been a long time coming. The track was penned while Jepsen was writing songs for 2015’s E•MO•TION, but ultimately did not end up on the record. Same goes for 2016 EP E•MO•TION: Side B. I suppose you could say it just didn’t make the final cut... to the feeling. (Not going to apologize for that cornball joke, either. Still too overcome by “Cut To The Feeling.) But “Cut To The Feeling” is here now, and our patience has paid off in a big way.

Put this song on and try to stay perfectly still. Let those hand claps, that exhilarating bridge, that ‘80s pop sound, that thumping drum, and that sumptuous chorus pump through your headphones, but do not bob your head along to the beat. I dare you.

Oh, what’s that? You say it can’t be done? You say Carly Slay exclusively puts out jams that compel listeners to snake their upper bodies to and fro while still firmly planted in their desk chairs? The power of Carly Slay’s pop hits cannot be stopped? Well, I will not argue with that.

It’s official: The queen of the perfect pop bop has done it again. Who else wants to dance on the roof to “Cut To The Feeling”?
