Why Does Captain America Look So Defeated In 'Infinity War'?
Nearly every Marvel superhero is reuniting in the upcoming, bound-to-be-epic Avengers: Infinity War — including Captain America (Chris Evans). At the D23 Expo on Saturday, a brand new look at the film confirms Captain America will be in Infinity War, but he doesn't look his best. A thrilling new teaser shown at the Expo previewed the superheroes joining forces to take on Thanos (Josh Brolin) in his destruction to complete the Infinity Gauntlet. It begins when Thor (Chris Hemsworth) accidentally lands of the Guardians' ship, asking, "Who the hell are you?" Then, the clip flashes forward through epic, nail-biting battle scenes to show Captain America, donned in black and sporting a beard, emerging from the shadows.
In the very brief clip, it looks like he's in some sort of cell, looking ragged, tired, and defeated. Meanwhile, his voiceover says, "I know what it’s like to lose, to feel so desperately like you're right." Fans last saw Captain America taken as a fugitive in Civil War after his non-compliance with the Sokovia Accord. Will he join the Avengers for one final battle in Infinity War? Seeing as how the movie marks Marvel's 10-year anniversary (as the biggest production in Marvel history), it could very well happen.
The footage aired at D23 isn't available yet online, but you can check out the teaser from February below.
The new teaser also showed intense snippets, like Spider-Man (Tom Holland) on the ground, looking injured and saying "I'm sorry" up to Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.). Fans also see a glimpse of Thor's head in the tight grip of Thanos' hand.
Anything goes in the upcoming film, which is seemingly attempting to shock and awe fans. But until it's released in May 2018, answers will remain under wraps.
