It looks like he may be taking some steps in the right direction. Ben Affleck announced that he completed a stint in rehab in order to become a better father, according to his Facebook page. On Tuesday, March 14, the actor to the big step in sharing the news with his many followers. He revealed, "I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront."
What's most admirable about the shocking announcement is Affleck's explanation of the reasoning behind checking himself for treatment as his three children. He goes on to explain:
"I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."
Affleck and his wife, Jennifer Garner, separated back in 2015, after 10 years of marriage, but have yet to move forward with divorce. They have continued to live together and co-parent their three young children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5. The family was spotted spending Christmas together just this past year.
Perhaps, there may be room for reconciliation now that Affleck has moved on to this new chapter in life... Regardless, I wish the best for the actor and his family.
