Yes, Kit Harington & Emilia Clarke Are Friends IRL & It's Adorable

After a long season of "will they or won't they but lol obviously they will," Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen finally did the deed on the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. (Jon Snow showed his butt, y'all. HBO knows how to give the people what they want.) But, regardless of their strange and complicated relationship on screen, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke are good friends IRL, having worked together for years now on Game of Thrones.

Reactions have been mixed about the controversial sex scene since, after all, Dany and Jon are aunt and nephew. And actors Harington and Clarke themselves were grossed out by the union between Jon and Dany. In an HBO behind-the-scenes feature about the finale, "The Dragon And The Wolf," both Clarke and Harington explained they didn't think the sex scene was kosher. "The reality of what they are to each other, I don’t know how that’s going to… I think [gags] might be the reaction," Clarke said. Harington was also weirded out, and said, "I think they both know it's wrong... I think they both know it's going to cause problems." And problems it surely will cause in Westeros!

Back in the real world, rumors that Harington and Clarke are/were dating constantly circulate, but the pair of actors are just very close friends. (Besides, Harington is very much in love with Rose Leslie, who previously played Ygritte on GoT, thank you very much.) But Harington and Clarke platonically love and respect each other a lot.

Talking to Elle in July, Harington said of his first meeting with Clarke before Season 1: "I was sort of bowled over by this absolutely stunning, petite girl with this wicked sense of humor. We became very fast friends quite quickly." And as for the rumors that the pair of them are together, Clarke said in the same Elle profile that the gossip "literally makes me want to cry, it's so far from the truth."
