MAC Finally Announced An Aaliyah Collection & Fans Made It Happen

Dedicated fans have been begging MAC for an Aaliyah tribute collection for years, and they're are finally getting what they've asked for. That's right — MAC Cosmetics x Aaliyah is officially in the works.

It may be 16 years since R&B singer Aaliyah passed away in a plane crash, but she is — and forever will be — an icon. And to say fans are excited about this collection is a severe understatement. Although the collection is still a year away — it's set to arrive in Summer 2018 — people are already looking forward to the products bearing Aaliyah's name. From tweets with heart-eye emojis to women of color sharing excitement about having a collection for their skin tone, the responses show how much of a superstar the singer was and still is.

The brand drop any hints about the products in the collection just yet, but MAC did share the official poster for the collection. The photo shows the singer's signature, the same "font" as her 2001 album cover.

"Aliyah is truly one in a million — an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all," the MAC caption reads. "Today we join her countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the M·A·C Aaliyah collection."

Although the products are still a mystery, this is a beautiful tribute to the late singer. The brand recently released their Selena Collection, in tribute to another iconic artist, which was filled with the late singer's iconic lipstick shades and eyeshadows to match her personal style.

If Aaliyah's collection is anything like Selena's, fans have a lot to be excited about.
