9 Totally Satisfying Ways To Get Rid Of Blackheads
Having blackheads isn't something I jump up and down with joy about. And I'm guessing they're not really a cause for excitement for many others with them either. But even though I could happily do without 'em, there is something extremely satisfying about getting rid of blackheads. So much so that I actually look forward to tackling my nose once a week. And if you've ever had a prolific excavation, you probably know just how mesmerizing it can be to push or pull out all of those little oil plugs from around your face. If you haven't though, this may all sound a little gross.
If you're into it though, there are actually a number of ways to extract your blackheads from different types of products to DIYs. Oh yeah, even if you're a pro with a pore strip, there's probably a method here you haven't tried yet. Plus all of the videos out there that showcase different techniques and levels of extractions are pretty addicting to watch. But I wouldn't recommend diving too deep into the rabbit hole unless you're prepared to see some really real extractions. Seriously. You've been warned. If you're simply curious about some new blackhead removal methods though, here are nine surprisingly effective ways to extract blackheads to try or even just watch for fun. No judgement— it's totally fascinating. Oh and a fair warning: You're definitely going to see some sebaceous filaments if you scroll any further.
1. With Blackhead Removal Strips
Biore Charcoal Pore Strips, $6, Amazon
Thought nose strips were just for your nose? Think again. They can be surprisingly effective on other areas of your face too. Just remember to pull them off in an upward direction for the best results.
2. With A Pore Pack
SkinMiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack, $17, Amazon
For more of a spa experience, try a multi-step pore pack that involves loosening your blackheads, extracting them, and then soothing your nose and closing your pores with a couple of final steps.
3. With A Peel-Off Mask
My Scheming Blackhead Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set, $11, Amazon
Peel-off masks can be a lot like pore strips that pull out all of that gunk. For better results, try opening your pores first with a warm, damp towel or trying a system like this one.
4. With Blackhead Tweezers
Cliganic Blackhead Tweezer Extractor, $10, Amazon
Although this method seems to take quite a while to complete, IDK if there's anything more satisfying than watching every single blackhead being individually expressed from your face.
5. With Hard Wax
Nad's Nose Wax, $20, Amazon
Hard wax meant to remove nose hairs can be repurposed to pull out blackheads. Just spread it on then yank it off— kind of like a pore strip meets peel-off mask.
6. With A Pore Vacuum
Panasonic Electric Pore Cleanser, $26, Amazon
This little contraption will suck the oil right off of your face, and even some of the blackheads out of your pores. Kinda gross. Mostly satisfying.
7. With A Toothbrush
Who knew you could make blackheads easier to extract by brushing your nose with some baking soda and toothpaste?
8. With Egg Whites
You can also DIY a peel-off mask with some egg whites and tissue. Simple, effective, and much easier to tackle your whole face than with individual pore strips.
9. With A Professional
Of course, if you tend to get carried away with picking at your face, try seeing an esthetician or dermatologist to have your blackheads professionally extracted. Or if you just want to see some intense extractions, check out a pro on YouTube.
