Here's Why Peter Isn't Right For Rachel On 'The Bachelorette'

by Dana Getz
ABC

There are a lot of promising men competing for Rachel Lindsay's heart on The Bachelorette, but one contender has been a fan favorite from the start: Peter Kraus, a 31-year-old business owner from Madison, Wisconsin. It's clear he and Rachel have a lot in common — they both have charming, gap-toothed smiles, a love for dogs and sports, and sought therapy for similar self-building reasons — but what if Peter isn't right for Rachel?

It has, after all, only been a few weeks since Bachelorette returned for its 13th season, and though Rachel certainly hasn't been hesitant to pare down her group of suitors, it's still a little early to peg Peter as the winner. Bryan also made a strong first impression, Dean has proved himself a worthy underdog, and Eric has quietly become a late-blooming standout. Plus, there's a handful of men viewers have yet to really get to know, so at this point, Rachel's final rose is still very much fair game.

Peter may seem like a perfect match on paper, but for argument's sake, let's take a moment to review why he may not be the one to put a ring on Rachel's finger. That way, if he's not the last one standing, it may help to soften the blow.

He's From Wisconsin

Peter was quick to point out that he's from Wisconsin, which, as fans know, is the same state Nick Viall called home. Rachel doesn't have a great track record with Wisconsinites, so this may not be the best sign. More realistically, though, Peter owns a personal training company in Wisconsin, which could hold him back from relocating to Dallas to be with Rachel. Both of them seem open to moving, but those situations are always tricky.

He's Really Close With His Family

This is, of course, a positive, but Rachel is also close to her family, so this could be another point of tension when figuring out where to live.

His Motives May Be Questionable

Peter seems completely genuine, but he does have a history with modeling, which is always a red flag when it comes to reasons why someone would sign up for a show like The Bachelorette.

He Wanted To Go On The Bachelorette Since High School

Again with the potentially questionable motives.

He Could Have A Tendency To Jump The Gun

In his ABC bio, Peter revealed that he was looking at rings only three months into his relationship with an ex. That bodes well for a Bachelorette engagement, but could also be an iffy pattern since, that time around, it ultimately didn't work out.

The Competition May Be Too Fierce

Though Peter is a solid frontrunner, Rachel has a lot of sparks flying with other contestants, too. She called her first kiss with Bryan "the hottest first kiss" of her life in her weekly blog for People, and let's be honest, it's pretty hard to compete with that kind of passion.

And that's all she wrote, folks. There aren't a whole lot of reasons Peter isn't right for Rachel, and some of these are really grasping at straws, but hey, it's always good to be realistic. Godspeed, Rachel — you've got some tough decisions ahead of you.
