6 Blogs And Podcasts For Book-Loving Feminists

by Julia Seales

I’m hugely addicted to blogs and podcasts about books. There’s nothing like putting on a great podcast that keeps you company while you multitask, and I love switching between audiobooks and podcasts.

Luckily for book-lovers, there are plenty of amazing podcasts and great literary-themed blogs that will satisfy your need to talk about books 24/7. They come in handy if you, like me, have a penchant for reading books that were popular a while ago but that you want to talk about now. If your friends don’t feel like talking about that particular book now,or if you sadly don’t have a lot of friends who are fellow bookworms, podcasts and blogs have your back.

You can pretty much find blogs and podcasts for any interest, from humorous lit-themed blogs to true crime podcasts. And if you’re a feminist who loves reading, there are blogs and podcasts out there that are perfect for you.

Whether you’re looking to educate yourself and learn more about feminism and books, or you are looking for lit-themed material that will fill you with a sense of empowerment, you can find the perfect blog and/or podcast that will satisfy that need. Here are a few of my favorites:

1Romance Novels For Feminists

If you love romance novels and feminism, Romance Novels for Feminists will probably be a good fit for you. Find book suggestions, reviews, essays, and more on this blog.

2Feminist Fiction

Author Rhiannon Thomas talks feminism in fictional worlds on the blog Feminist Fiction. Find reviews, recommendations, essays, and more — this is especially a good blog to read if you're into YA.

3The Mary Sue

The Mary Sue covers all things geek culture, so if you love reading comic books, this blog will be your new favorite. They also cover female representation in everything from video games to genre TV shows, so if you're a reader and an avid consumer of pop culture, you'll find plenty of articles to interest you.

4The Eggplant Emoji

Emma covers everything from bloggers and women authors she loves, to booktube, to book reviews. You can also sign up for her bookclub newsletter. The Eggplant Emoji has a little bit of everything for feminist book-lovers.

5Reading Women Podcast

In the Reading Women's own words:

"The goal of the Reading Women podcast is to bring previously anonymous women to the forefront of your TBR stack. Each month Kendra Winchester and Autumn Privett pick a theme and then discuss several books in a book club-style podcast. Subscribe today to discover amazing female authors who are giving voice to a part of the world's population that has been largely overlooked."

Subscribe to the Reading Women Podcast and add all their suggestions to your TBR pile.

6Nerdette Podcast

Nerdette features "interviews with your favorite authors, artists, astronauts and more. Because everybody is a little nerdy about something." It's a great podcast for women who can't help but nerd out when it comes to books (and a bit of everything else).
