Signs That You're A 'Vanderpump Rules' Super Fan
Aside from Lisa Vanderpump's guiding presence, I usually forget that Vanderpump Rules is actually an extension of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. That's because it went from a guilty pleasure to a phenomenon pretty much instantly. The show has a life of its own and a super devoted fandom. Sure, there are a lot of people who watch the show, but there's a difference between the casual viewers and the super fanatics. You should know where you fall, but if you're not sure, there are plenty of signs that you are a true Vanderpump Rules super fan.
I'm talking about the people who have seen every episode multiple times, can recall the hairstyles and outfits from pivotal scenes, hum the theme song without even realizing it, hypothesize how they would act if they were in this group of friends, and have very strong opinions on everything that's happened and everyone who has ever stepped into SUR.
Sure, there are super fans for most great reality TV shows and a lot of them follow the casts on social media, actually buy the products from the cast member's sponsored Instagram posts, and have watched all of the episodes, but there many unique attributes when it comes to the Vanderpump Rules fandom.
1. You Look Forward To/Fear Stassi's Birthday Every Year
We all know those people who act like their birthday is an international holiday, but someone who goes many steps beyond that is Stassi Schroeder. As an imaginary friend of hers, I get a little scared when it comes to her militant party planning. As a viewer, I support it. Her annual birthday festivities have produced some iconic Vanderpump Rules moments.
2. You Think Jax's Chunky Sweater Is Iconic
Everyone who has been watching from the beginning has a special place in their heart for Jax Taylor's iconic chunky sweater that he wore when he crashed the group's Vegas trip during Season 1 in an effort to win back Stassi. The conflict really escalated when Jax took off his chunky sweater and charged at Stassi's replacement boo, Frank. The moment (and the sweater) became instant classics.
3. You'll Never Get Over Katie's Hair From Season 2
Katie Maloney went from not having a story line in Season 1, to really standing out with her orange hair in Season 2. If that image is burned into your retinas, then you really are an invested fan. In a weird way, it was the marker of that past era on Pump Rules. I just personally hope that Katie never revisits that look.
4. You View Laura-Leigh As The Unsung Hero Of Season 1
Jax's rebound never stood a chance with Stassi as an enemy, but she really stole the show when she put Jax in his place after he dumped her following an AA meeting. Laura-Leigh went on an expletive filled rant against Jax in the middle of SUR before leaving the show forever to pursue her acting career.
5. You Love When Schwartz Mentions His Crush On LVP
Obviously, Tom Schwartz is married to Katie, but it's still hilarious whenever he references his crush on his sometimes-boss Lisa and gets nervous talking to her. It's never been a part of any story line, but I can't help laughing every time it pops up in the episodes.
6. You Are Drawn To Scheana's Color Contacts In Every Scene
If you get distracted by Scheana Shays's color contacts, then you (just like myself) are very into this show. No matter what Scheana is saying, it is tough not to look into her eyes and try to figure out what's going on there. Are the contacts necessary? Probably not, but sure is fun spotting the differences from one scene to the next.
7. You Want To Know More About Peter
Peter Madrigal seems hang out with the cast a lot and he always has good commentary to add, so I just don't get why he's not featured as a cast member on this show. Peter is just so mysterious. He's always around, yet the fans don't know much about him.
8. You Can't Help Giving Jax The Benefit Of The Doubt
Even though you know that it makes no sense to trust anything Jax says or does, you cannot help giving him the benefit of the doubt when he tries to move on from his past yet again.
9. You Went To SUR Hoping To Run Into The Cast
Unfortunately, we all don't live in California, but if you have made the trip to SUR with the hopes that Tom Sandoval pours your drinks and Scheana brings them to your table you really are devoted.
10. You Get Vicariously Offended When Andy Comes For The Cast On WWHL
If you noticed that Andy Cohen is extra hard on the Pump Rules cast whenever they stop by the Club House on Watch What Happens Live, you are a pretty observant TV watcher. If you get a little offended when he comes at them and pushes his questions, then you really do care a lot about the cast members.
11. You Listen To Stassi's Podcast On The Reg
Not only do you watch every episode of Vanderpump Rules (multiple times) and follow all of the cast members on every social media platform, but you take your fandom to another level as a regular listener to Stassi's podcast, Straight Up With Stassi.
12. You're Curious About What Frank Is Up To These Days
If you find yourself wondering what ever happened to Stassi's immediate Jax rebound, Frank, from Season 1, you are just as invested as I am. Frank had such a major impact on the first season, yet no one mentions him. Ever. It's so weird. What is he up to these days? He has to hate the show, right?
13. You Stopped Trying To Understand How These People Are Still Friends
This is the strangest friend group to understand. They are constantly arguing, cheating, and lying, yet they really are best friends. At first it was tough to figure out how any of this made sense, but you've come to a point where you accept this alternate reality and you've stopped questioning the nonsensical dynamics.
14. You Think Of Jax & Kristen Whenever The Movie Drive Is Mentioned
Even though Drive is an acclaimed film, your mind immediately references Jax and Kristen Doute's scandalous hookup that went down while they were "watching" the movie. And, of course, that includes Stassi's many tirades that name checked the film before she slapped Kristen in a fit of rage.
15. You Miss Crazy Kristen
Sure, it's great that Kristen has got herself together and has stopped terrorizing Tom and Ariana Madix's relationship, but you can't help missing her "crazy" antics from time to time. If you are more than thrown off by Kristen being the calm one these days and you're waiting for a Crazy Kristen relapse, then you are so on my level of fandom.
16. You Looked Up The Resorts From The Cast Trips When Planning Your Own
Just like most reality TV stars, I highly doubt that the Vanderpump Rules cast pays for their (many) extravagant vacations. Nevertheless, if you want to party the way they do and you've actually looked up the resorts where they've stayed when planning your own vacations, you definitely are into the show.
17. You Have A Preference When It Comes To The SUR Uniform Versions
To be honest, I've never been a fan of the SUR restaurant uniforms and I never really felt like they went with LVP's style aesthetic, but I still can't help preferring one dress version over another. If you have formed opinions about the uniforms, then you definitely care about this show on more than a casual level of viewership.
18. You've Done Your Own Investigation To Try To Identify Her Mystery Boyfriend
Of course, you follow the entire cast and their significant others on all social media sites. That's what true fans do. But, if you've found yourself 10 pages deep into Google searches or zoomed into Instagram screen shots trying to identify LaLa Kent's secret boyfriend, you have the same level of curiosity as the rest of the cast.
19. You Take It To Heart If Tom & Ariana Ever Disagree
Everyone knows that Tom and Ariana are the most solid couple at SUR. If you are upset during the very infrequent occasions when they disagree, then you really are invested... And I totally understand.
20. You've Looked At Side By Side Photos To Spot Changes In Jax's Nose
Jax's fixation with nose jobs never really made any sense, and it's tough not to be curious about Jax constantly going under the knife. The most enthusiastic viewers have looked side by side at Jax's (many) before and after photos multiple times.
21. You Can't Help But Be Happy That None Of Their "Modeling" Careers Have Taken Off
When this show started out, part of its premise was that these young adults were working at Lisa's restaurant while they tried to make it in the entertainment industry. Although you want the best for your favorite cast members, you might be a little happy that most of them stuck with working at SUR, stopped going to casting calls, and started pimping out teeth whitening products on Instagram. After all, that means that they are more likely to stay on Vanderpump Rules!
If you relate to the items on this list, then you definitely are a Vanderpump Rules super fan. You are not alone in your obsession.
