12 Shows That Nick Viall Should Totally Star In
After two stints on The Bachelorette, a round of Bachelor in Paradise, a season of The Bachelor, and several weeks on Dancing With the Stars, Bachelor Nation legend Nick Viall is apparently done with reality television. His presence on the small screen will be missed, and — wait. What if the Bachelor phenom eventually returned to the small screen, but in a different genre? What if Viall appeared on a scripted TV show? What if Viall woke up one morning and, after tucking into some pickle and peanut butter toast, decided he'd like to dip his toes in the non-reality waters?
Back in May, the Bachelor alum told Entertainment Tonight that he and reality TV are through; he has "zero plans" to return to the reality fold for now. Hey, he's done a lot of reality TV in the last few years, so who can blame him for needing a breather for an indefinite amount of time?
However, Viall didn't say anything about non-reality TV, and, for better or for worse, that is something to cling to. The dude is so good at being on television, and it’d be fun to see him try something that didn’t fall in the reality TV category.
What scripted program could Viall appear on, you ask? Here are a few ideas.
1. The Bold Type
Jane could spend a day with Viall for a Scarlet profile. Er, she could spend a day with Viall’s character. Viall could play the star of a fictional dating competition show. The meta jokes would be endless.
2. American Horror Story
Put him in some spooky hair and spooky makeup, please.
3. Younger
Picture it: Viall is the author of what they think will be a smash hit sci-fi book. Liza and Kelsey really, really want to sign him to Millennial. So, they take him to a new outer space-themed restaurant, à la Mars 2112.
4. Silicon Valley
Viall could be the Pied Piper guys' new neighbor whose friendly disposition sends Gilfoyle into a frenzy. Gilfoyle assumes he must be up to something, and he's going to get to the bottom of it. (He isn't up to anything.)
5. Ballers
The Rock meets Viall's character at a sports agent networking event. Viall's character isn't a sports agent, but a guy who just wandered into the party and decided to stick around. Rock-larity ensues.
6. Famous In Love
Hey, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell showed up in Season 1, so a Viall cameo really wouldn’t be out of place.
7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Viall could play Jake's long-lost cousin who shows up out of the blue one day. He tells Jake someone stole his prized replica of the Beauty and the Beast rose. He says he was saving the rose for his one true love. (Too on the nose? Whatever.) Jake reluctantly helps him track down the rose thief. Surprise: the cousin forgot he gave it to someone on a date.
8. Arrow
Viall doing superhero action scenes? Viall doing superhero action scenes.
9. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
We know Viall can dance, but can he carry a tune? *Flashes back to that one time he sang on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season.* Welp, it's a start.
10. Modern Family
Viall could play Phil's client who "really looks like someone he knows from somewhere." Phil would spend the episode trying to figure out why he recognizes Viall's character, only to eventually realize Viall's character aggressively cut him off in traffic once and it really stuck with him.
11. Westworld
Four words: Viall as a robot.
12. The Simpsons
A Simpsons-ified rendering of Viall would be something to treasure and love.
Hey, Viall? If you ever get the itch to come back to the boob tube but don't want to dive back into the land of talking heads and mic necklaces, remember: There's a whole scripted world out there.
