The power in shifting your mindset from victim to victor can change the course of your life. Janna Johnson, the author of “Unf*ck Your Mind”, is a walking example.

As the founder of Revive by Janna, a holistic one-stop-shop resource for all things mind and body wellness, author of the #1 bestseller Unf*ck Your Mind: Shatter Limiting Beliefs to Become Who You Were Meant to Be, and podcast host of popular podcast Revive with Janna, it’s safe to say Janna Johnson wears many hats. Her entrepreneurial successes are to be admired, however, Johnson’s story is not at all complete without her battle with Lyme disease.

Today, Johnson is an expert in mindset, nutrition, wellness, and Lyme. She has made it her life’s purpose to spread awareness, education, hope, and training to people seeking to feel better in their own skin — and to help people discover and harness the power of their mindset.

Through her personal journey fighting Lyme disease, Johnson learned the most valuable skill to have in life: shifting her mindset.

She explains, “Our mindset is the foundation to all other successes in life; happiness, love, fulfillment, and freedom — everything. Actions follow thoughts, therefore staying positive, even when it was unfathomable, was necessary. At the darkest point in my battle with chronic Lyme disease, when I was desperate to escape the horrific pain and torment, I chose to think differently about my situation. It was not that I didn’t want to get well before that moment, I did, but my belief in actually getting well was missing. In that pivotal moment, I chose to believe that I could and would get well and completely eradicate Lyme from my body. I persevered and healed.”

With no one standing in her corner but herself, it was up to Johnson to believe in herself to overcome Lyme disease. If you’re fighting a solo battle, she wants you to know that you have power over your situation, and ultimately, it’s up to you to choose to see beyond the darkness and give way to the light.

“When I was so sick with Lyme disease and I chose to believe I could get well, and I chose to think differently, I had to fight off those demons and the symptoms of the disease and the negative tape almost every second of the day because it was embedded in me,” she shares.

“I didn't have anyone. It was me and the disease,” she continues. But the moment she decided to believe in healing from Lyme, her actions began to follow her thoughts because “your mindset is the foundation to everything else in life”.

The connection between the mind and body is stronger than many realize. According to a leading medical institution, “There is definitely a strong link between ‘positivity’ and health. Additional studies have found that a positive attitude improves outcomes and life satisfaction across a spectrum of conditions — including traumatic brain injury, stroke, and brain tumors,” indicating that leading medical voices believe the connection between having a positive or negative mindset and physical healing is correlated.

While Johnson attributes mindset to her healing process, diet is another major factor that came into play on her road to recovery. She turned to a ketogenic lifestyle to try and get her body in check.

It worked.

After cutting out all sugar — including both natural and artificial — she was able to finally start healing. Johnson claims, “Sugar feeds all diseases. Our bodies don’t know whether we just ate a banana or a chocolate bar, but either way, they both turn into glucose and feed all unwanted pathogens and overgrowths.”

Living in good health is freedom, and understanding that your whole body needs to be working in unison is the key to getting there. The discussion has covered the mind and what you put into your body; the last piece to the puzzle is taking control of your gut health. “When you heal your gut, you heal your body and your brain. When you heal your mind, you’re free for life,” she says. The interconnectedness of how gut health can contribute to a positive mindset, which is essential for overall health, is not to be diminished.

With all of these various elements, the mind, nutrition, and the gut, all working together, Johnson, a mindset expert, nutritionist, and integrative nutrition health coach, was able to regain control of her body and life. She explained the profound impact this had on her, which was her ability to exhibit the freedom to feel and act as her authentic self, to love, and to chase her dreams.

Now, Johnson has dedicated her life to helping others regain control over their minds and bodies and harness wellness through different services and techniques. What was once her biggest demon, battling Lyme disease, has turned into a beautiful purpose that will continue to touch the lives of so many people struggling with chronic illness, health, or mental issues.

“I always make sure I'm coming from a place of service. When I was really sick and in a bad position, I would have given anything to have had access to someone like me to hear their story. To read their book. That's the reason I do what I do,” she concludes.
