It’s almost too easy for the counters in your kitchen to devolve into a mess of dishes and utensils. Luckily, Katy Wells, founder of Clutter Cure Club & Host of The Maximized Minimalist podcast, has an easy fix. “I love this roll-up/stow-away drying rack that sits over the sink,” she tells Bustle. “It saves counter space and can be easily stored away when not in use.”

Since the sturdy steel frame can support up to 100 pounds, feel free to load it up with all sorts of heavy pots and pans.

Cutting boards can take up a ton of space inside your cabinets. The solution? “I recommend storing baking sheets and cutting boards vertically using a simple rack,” explains Wells. “It creates more room and makes it easier to grab and go!”

This particular rack is made from rustproof metal, and features enough space for up to four boards. Though if you don’t have four boards, fear not — you can also use it to store pot lids, baking sheets, and more.

Your spice rack doesn’t have to be a jumbled mess of mismatched bottles. Enter: these spice jars that come with pre-printed labels. It can be installed two ways: freestanding on your counters, or mounted to a wall. “I love how it’s deep enough to also hold canned goods, condiments and larger containers of spices as well,” explains Wells. If you don’t have enough cabinet or wall space for a countertop spice rack, this magnetic one may be more in line with what you’re looking for. It stays mounted on your fridge so that all your spices are always within reach — and the rustproof metal won’t corrode over time. Choose from 14 colors: black, white, red, and more.

Letting appliances sit out on your counters can leave them looking cluttered — especially if they’re on the larger side. “I prefer to not have bulky appliances taking up space on my kitchen counters,” explains Wells. “Rather than using a coffee machine that lives on the countertop, we have a pour-over coffee maker that is stored in the cabinet when not in use.”

Speaking of appliances, this sliding tray is a clever addition to any kitchen. Paper towels do an OK job when it comes to getting surfaces clean. Thankfully, Barbara Brock, founder & CEO of Barbara Brock Inc., a professional organizing and staging company, has a recommendation: these microfiber cloths. She tells Bustle that they “[...] pick up all kinds of dirt, are washable and lint free. They can be used in every nook and cranny in your home and with any type of cleanser.”

Not only are these microfiber cloths absorbent as well as lint-free, but they also leave behind a streak-free shine on any surface. Their bright colors also make it easy to see when they’re ready for a wash.

Cobwebs can be hard to reach without help from a ladder. Luckily, Brock has another easy fix: this extendable duster kit. She tells Bustle, “These kits can reach high places, an overhead fan and picture tops.” This specific kit features a telescopic handle that can extend out to 100 inches. Each order includes three interchangeable duster heads as well as a handheld duster wand — and a loop at the end of both handles let you hang them up in storage.

Another Brock pick, these Swiffer dusters are another solid option that extends up to 3 feet. The duster fibers remove up to 95% of allergens from your surfaces, too. The handle also bends 90 degrees so you can reach those awkward spots around your home.

Few things are as annoying as having to clean some sticky off tables or counters. Enter: Goo Gone adhesive remover. “When I have candle wax on a table or any adhesive surface, this product is my go-to [...],” explains Brock. “For adhesive removal on vertical surfaces, there’s no better option than Goo Gone Spray Gel which is specifically formulated to cling to goo on vertical surfaces, giving the product time to break down the adhesive.” Plus, the pleasant citrus scent leaves your home smelling oh-so-fresh.

Cleaning silver until it shines is rarely ever easy — unless you have these wipes. Brock tells Bustle that they’re “my new go-to for cleaning silver candlesticks, silverware, or dishes.” There’s no need for any rinsing after you’ve wiped your silver clean, and they’ll even leave behind an anti-tarnish shield to help keep your silver looking good for longer.

Though if you remain unconvinced? Brock goes on to say, “My niece gave me these wipes and I use them extensively. I live in a dry area and silver needs cleaning every month and these wipes are quick, easy, and less mess than creams or liquid.”

Toiletries, cleaning supplies, crafting materials — these storage bins are great for organizing all sorts of items. Liora Seltzer, certified KonMari Method professional organizer, founder of What U Keep, and parent coach, tells Bustle, “Clear, sturdy, plastic bins are always my go to for organizing as they are versatile, easy to clean and easy to see what’s inside.” Their stackable design helps maximize storage space inside of cabinets as well as on shelves. Plus, handles on both ends make them easy to carry around.

There’s a good chance you’ve never seen a storage basket like this one before. Seltzer explains to Bustle, “This is an easy way to contain items that need to go up or down between trips. Of course, they need to be brought to the right room and put away… which is not always easy, but at least they look neat by the stairs.”

The narrow footprint won’t take up too much space — so there’s no need to worry about it getting in the way. And if you’re worried about tripping on the handles, they’re placed high enough on the outside that you can tuck them into the top if needed.

Got a home that’s low on storage space? Try hiding clutter in plain sight using this giant rope basket. “This is not a long term solution by any means, but we all have those times where we just need the room to look presentable in a flash,” explains Seltzer. “Just remember to declutter the basket as soon as you can. When it’s not hiding the clutter, it’s actually a perfect spot for throw blankets and pillows!”

Its neutral color easily meshes with just about any decor style — though you do have more than 15 colors to choose from if you prefer something more bold.

Straining to reach items stashed in the backs of your cabinets is no one’s idea of a good time. Thankfully, Cori McDougald, CEO of Meat and Potatoes Organizing, has a clever solution. “One of our favorite organizing tools in the kitchen cabinets are [...] cabinet pull out drawers,” she explains.

“They are extremely versatile for kitchen items including pots, pans, lids, tupperware and even non-perishable goods. The most important function of these drawers is that they allow you to pull your items to you, so you won't lose them in the very back of the cabinet.” And since each order includes adhesive, installation is a total breeze — no tools required.

Even the cleanest homes can feel cluttered if your drawers are a jumbled mess of items. “One of my favorite items for maintaining a tidy home is adjustable drawer organizers,” explains Julianna Poplin, founder at The Simplicity Habit. “They can be used in a variety of places in the home (junk drawer, for kitchen gadgets, for products in the bathroom, and for dresser drawers just to name a few). Rags do an all right job at clearing away grime — though if you really want a clean home, consider using melamine sponges instead. “Melamine foam is the perfect cleaner,” Delah Gomasi, CEO & Managing Director at MaidForYou, tells Bustle. “It's abrasive, durable, non-toxic, and can activate and clean with just water. Our teams use them regularly for cleaning walls, pent-up stains on kitchen countertops, bathtubs and other fixtures in the home where cleaning chemicals just don't seem to be doing the trick.”

Not only are these melamine foam sponges extra-thick, but you can also cut them into smaller pieces to clean deep into tight spaces if needed. They’re suitable for use on nearly any surface — from grimy bathroom tile to dirty shoes — and a little water is all they need in order to start working.

Never heard of an E-cloth before? According to Gomasi, “E-cloths are premium microfibre cloths that can be reused after a simple wash in your washing machine. You can purchase e-cloth sponges that are reusable and disposable and they make cleaning kitchen and bathroom surfaces a breeze.” And if you remain unconvinced? Gomasi adds, “Most don't require dish soap or chemicals to clean.”

With that in mind, these E-cloths are a total steal. They can be washed and reused at least 100 times each — and their extra-long fibers easily latch onto everything from food residue to grime without leaving behind any scratches. Plus, the microfiber material makes them incredibly absorbent.

Organizing a cluttered cabinet underneath your sink can be a challenge, especially when having to work around all that plumbing. Luckily, Gomasi has a suggestion: these under-sink organizers. “These are super simple, easy to use, and install, storage trolleys that fit under your sink,” he tells Bustle. “They usually come with two separate baskets which makes organising bathroom items (soaps, conditioners, face scrubs, make up etc) a breeze.”

The bottom tier also slides out so that it’s easy to grab items stashed in the back without having to reach — and suction cups on the bottom help keep it from shifting out of place. Plus, the sturdy frame can support up to 50 pounds.

Need some extra space to hang up items? The solution may be as easy as installing some adhesive hooks inside your home. “Adhesive hooks are easy to install and remove, they're sturdy, and best of all they're inexpensive which means you can create a minimalist, organized look on a budget,” explains Gomasi. “When organizing our client's homes we use them on the lower inside doors of bathroom vanities to store brushes, hair dryers, and hair straighteners.”

Not only are these particular hooks so strong that they can hold up to 22 pounds, but installation is as easy as pressing them into place like a giant sticker — no tools required. Since they’re waterproof, you shouldn’t have any trouble using them in humid bathrooms or kitchens.

There’s nothing wrong with cleaning your floors using disposable mop pads — though that doesn’t mean there aren’t better options out there. “I'm a big fan of microfibre mops with reusable mop pads,” Gomasi tells Bustle. “They're better than regular mops because of the microfibre pads that I've found to clean hard surfaces far more efficiently than regular wool mops.”

This particular microfiber mop comes with four reusable pads — so you won’t be stuck having to constantly wash them whenever you want to clean your floors. The telescopic handle also stretches from 24 inches out to 45 inches, making it easy to clean underneath furniture, on top of tall shelves, or nearly anywhere else.

If you’re running out of space on your shoe rack, Andrea Ponce, Florida-based MaidPro owner, has a clever solution. “One of my favorite organizers are these shoe slot organizers,” she tells Bustle. “They can be adjusted to size depending on type of shoe such as sneakers, sandals or heels and optimizes your closet shelves space while still allowing you to see the shoes on display.”

They’re suitable for use with just about any shoe — from high heels to sneakers. Plus, their nonslip surface helps keep your shoes from sliding off.

Seasonal garments and linens can take up a ton of space inside your closet. Enter: these vacuum storage bags. Ponce tells Bustle, “For those with winter clothes that you want to store during spring/summer months or moms (like me) that want to store emotionally important baby clothes, these vacuum bags are amazing to optimize space [...].”

Their double-zip seals help keep air from leaking back inside once you’ve stashed them away into storage. Each order also includes a hand pump so that you can use them to pack your suitcase when traveling.

Don’t waste precious closet space stashing away those vacuum storage bags. Instead, Ponce suggests placing them inside these bins. “They are aesthetically pleasing and the colors are nice and neutral to be able to go with any color and decor in your room.” Their low profile lets you slide them underneath your bed to help save space, while reinforced handles make it easy to pull them out whenever you need something. Plus, the dustproof zipper lids help keep everything inside clean.

Once your regular cleaning rags have frayed into bits, consider upgrading to these Crocodile Cloths. According to Jonathon Thigpen, owner of Transparent Cleaning Co., they’ve “[...] become a staple for our business, and we keep a stash at home as well! They are super durable, don't dry out, and are perfect for getting into hard-to-reach spaces.” But if you need a little extra convincing? He goes on to say, “They are also very versatile for cleaning anything from countertops to sticky highchairs to greasy grills and more.”

You can grab your own pack of Crocodile Cloths for currently around $20. They’re suitable for cleaning just about any surface, including plastic, vinyl, metal, wood, leather, as well as dozens more. And unlike some cleaning wipes, these ones are infused with aloe and vitamin E — so there’s no need to worry about them drying out your hands after use.

A few stray hats or pieces of jewelry can easily make any dresser look cluttered. Christina Giaquinto, professional organizer and brand ambassador of Modular Closets, has a cheap solution. “Reduce the visual clutter with picture hanger hooks!” she tells Bustle. “They are a great way to organize and store items such as hats, purses and necklaces on your wall so you can maximize your vertical storage space.”

With that in mind, she likes this pack of picture hanging hooks in a variety of sizes that can hold weights ranging from 10 pounds all the way up to 100 pounds. The gold finish gives them a luxe look if they wind up being visible on your walls. Plus, they work just as well on plaster and drywall as they do on wood.

Sometimes the best ways to get organized are the simplest — like grabbing this peg board. Giaquinto explains, “Peg boards are great for smaller items in the garage such as your hammer, pliers and tools.” This particular board is made from tough polypropylene that’s weather- as well as impact-resistant. There’s enough space on it to hang dozens of tools — and each order includes a spacer kit to ensure that the board sits stable on your wall.

When you’ve run out of floor space to store larger items inside your garage, consider hanging things up on the walls using these hooks. “Hooks (like these ones on Amazon) are also a huge help in garages, as they allow you to organize most garage tools and items such as a broom, shovel, etc.” explains Giaquinto.

Speaking of garage storage, these straps are a clever way to organize bulky items, including hoses, ropes, ladders, and more. The tough nylon material can easily support up to 250 pounds — and each strap comes with a carabiner hook so that it’s easy to hang them up.

Your entryway’s appearance is one of the first impressions you make on guests. So if it’s a cluttered mess? Giaquinto recommends that you get organizing by having “[...] a system for when you enter and exit the home. For example, a great idea is to have a catch-all tray on an entryway table for your keys, wallet, sunglasses, etc. so you never have to think about those essential items.”

Not only is this tray budget-friendly, but its sleek faux leather exterior looks expensive and brings a touch of chic to any space. You can grab it in a variety of colors — from rich blue to trendy wheat — and the foldable design makes it easy to stash away in storage when not in use.

Speaking of entryways, if yours is too small to fit a table, Giaquinto has another suggestion to help you stay organized. “If you don't have space in your entryway for a small table to hold a bin, hang a small basket on the wall next to the door to hold your keys, sunglasses, chapstick, etc.,” she tells Bustle. “This makes it easy to grab-and-go as you're leaving the home. It will also become a habit to toss your keys and other items in the basket each time you return home.”

These baskets are made from stylish, woven jute, with a leather hanging handle that makes them look way more expensive than they are. And with four colors to choose from (jute, jute/black, jute/white, or white), you shouldn’t have any trouble matching them to your current decor.

Now that you’ve cleared your entryway of small-item clutter, it’s time to tackle that unruly mess of shoes. “Declutter your home's entryway by adding a shoe shelving unit [...],” suggests Giaquinto. “This will help you create an organized system that will help take away your stress as you enter and leave the home.”

Not only does this shoe rack have space for up to 38 pairs of shoes as well as eight pairs of boots, but the dustproof cover also helps keep everything inside clean. Better still, putting it together is so easy that the only tool required is a hammer or rubber mallet.

Cable clutter is one of the more challenging types of clutter to hide. Luckily, Giaquinto has another solution. “Use strategically placed power strips!” she tells Bustle. “For example, by placing a power strip right behind kitchen appliances, you won't have long appliance cords draped across your floor to reach sockets. You can even place power strips inside cabinets for whenever you need to plug in an item you don't use every day.”

With six surge-protected outlets, this power strip is a definite upgrade from the outdated one you may be using. One outlets is spaced farther apart from the rest so that you can insert a bulky plug without blocking any of them. Plus, the 6-foot power cable makes it easy to use with distant wall outlets.

If you’d like to conceal all the plugs, this ultra-sleek version may be in line with what you’re looking for. It features a flat plug that sits flush against the wall outlet, allowing you to press furniture up right against it without having to worry about damaging the upholstery. Each order also includes an adhesive cable management kit to keep it looking tidy.

A giant mess of jumbled appliance cords can leave any kitchen counter looking cluttered. “To prevent this from happening, use adhesive cord clips to secure cords to the back of your oven, dryer, refrigerator, dishwashing machine, etc.,” suggests Giaquinto. “You can even use clips to secure cords to the sides of your cabinets.”

You can also hide those wires in plain sight using a stylish basket. “Are the cords for your toaster, air fryer, and blender always a twisted, knotted up mess?” asks Giaquinto. “Hide the cords in a strategically-placed wire basket or box. You will have access to the cords when needed, but they won't just sit and be an eyesore on your countertop.”

Not only is this basket the perfect size for hiding wires, but the black wire frame also blends in with the cables for an extra-subtle look. And if the time ever comes where you no longer need it to hide wires, you can easily repurpose it for holding toiletries in your bathroom.

When no amount of cleanser seems to get your surfaces clean, it may be time to bust out this bottle of hypochlorous acid. “This powerful yet gentle cleaner is perfect for sanitizing every surface, including mirrors, backsplashes, showers, sinks, and more,” explains Patricia Duarte, California-based MaidPro owner and founder of Cleaning Tips by Trish. “It effectively kills germs without harsh chemicals. [...] It is a natural deodorizer and non-corrosive so it’s not hard on our home’s surfaces.”

And if the price tag feels a little steep? Duarte goes on to say, “This product can replace a multitude of household cleaners and deodorizers as well, which is a boost to your budget too.”

Duarte has another unique cleaning suggestion: hydrogen peroxide. “It’s under rated in the home cleaning category, but an essential item to have on hand,” she tells Bustle. “It’s not just great for wound care, but also kills mold, mildew, and germs.” It’s also incredibly easy to use — “Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and then rinse or wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.”

And when your bathroom starts to look a little grimy, Duarte goes on to suggest that you “add a bit of dish soap to a bottle and keep it in the shower to tackle soap scum and germs while showering.”

You don’t have to pour that bottle of peroxide out into a bowl when you want to start cleaning. Instead, Duarte suggests that you “put a universal spray nozzle on” in order to transform it into “a super budget friendly cleaner and disinfectant.”

These spray nozzles feature a universal design that allows them to fit overtop just about any bottle. You can also trim the tube length so that they fit in bottles both large and small. The best part? They also feature two spray patterns: jet or mist.

When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with busting out a tub of OxiClean to get your home sparkling. Though if you need a little extra convincing? “My favorite and must-have-on-hand-at-all-times stain removal and cleaning aid is OxiClean,” Duarte tells Bustle. “It's made of sodium percarbonate, (I call is a shelf-stable powder version of hydrogen peroxide) sodium carbonate (washing soda), and includes surfactants and polymers to lift and capture stains.”

And if you aren’t sure how to use it, fear not. Duarte goes on to say, “With OxiClean, I have a tried-and-true product to keep sneakers and laundry brighter, washing machines cleaner, and a Rocky Balboa style knockout solution for a multitude of household surfaces and stains.”

Completely erasing stains from your clothes can be a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, Duarte has another suggestion: Zout laundry stain remover. “Its enzyme formula is the masterful blend of three enzymes designed to attack oils, proteins, and starches,” she explains. “I use it to remove everything from melted butter to an ever so yummy lasagna that should have made it into my mouth, not my shirt.”

And if your laundry is already looking good, you can also use it on a variety of household fabrics, including bedding, rugs, and more. “I had a mystery stain on a small area rug, and Zout got it out with minimal effort,” says Duarte. “I sprayed the area with Zout. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Laundered like normal, and it was completely gone.”

No matter how wrinkle-free your clothes are, a few stray bits of lint or pet hair can leave you looking schlubby. With that in mind, take a look at these lint rollers. Jade Piper, operations manager for BetterCleans, tells Bustle that “[...] you’ll love how effortless it is to keep things looking sharp!”

Another multipurpose product, Piper says that you can also use them to clean “[...] furniture, and car interiors too! It’s like a magic wand for messes.” Their ergonomic handles fit comfortably in both hands — and since each one features 95 sheets, this pack should last you a good, long while.

To avoid expensive clogs and annoying cleanups, Piper has another recommendation: this TubShroom. “I wish I got this sooner,” she tells Bustle. “It fits into your tub drain to catch hair before it clogs your pipes. Just pop it in, and after a few showers, pull it out, and all the hair is neatly caught. No more expensive drain cleaners or plumbers!” And since it’s made from stainless steel, there’s no need to worry about it developing rust over time.

When no amount of scrubbing seems to get rid of that baked-on crud, it may be time to bust out this bottle of Dawn Powerwash spray. According to Piper, “You’ll be surprised at how easily you can clean grease. It’s perfect for baked-on food and makes washing dishes a breeze.”

The manufacturer states that it can remove up to 99% of grease and grime in half of the time that plain dish soap would require. You can also let extra-tough messes soak for a few minutes for added cleaning power — and since the suds activate on contact, no water is required until it’s time to rinse.

Blood, wine, grease — this spot remover is formulated to erase all sorts of tough messes from your carpet. “This is like magic for carpet stains or any unexpected mess!” raves Piper. “I was skeptical at first too, but ended up super impressed. You don’t even need to rinse or scrub hard.” The water-based formula is also non-flammable as well as odor-free. And unlike some stain removers, this one is suitable for use around children and pets.
