Dating apps carry a certain promise of making intimate connections easier and more convenient. But all too often, these platforms fail to deliver on that guarantee. Instead of sparking genuine connections, they often leave users stuck in an endless cycle of futile swiping, shallow interactions, and emotional drain. This is especially true for women, who find it even harder to make sincere connections that transcend casual sex.

Solving these challenges is Roxy Lin, an entrepreneur who has experienced these struggles herself. She recognizes the need for a space where women can connect on their own terms, break away from restricting societal expectations, and foster real connections.

Her solution is Le Club, a platform that promises to be more than just another dating app — it positions itself as an experience platform, creating city-based networks where women can find genuine connections no matter where they’re located. Partnering with local companies and highlighting nearby attractions, Le Club aims to empower women to build relationships without having to travel, creating a city where no one feels alone. And because it leverages one-way selection models, women can better take control of who they connect with — without feeling like they have to sell themselves and be at the mercy of a randomized algorithm.

Meet Roxy Lin

Roxy Lin’s journey into entrepreneurship began in high school, when she built an event-planning agency named “GPA 0.0” and a 620,000-user platform that allowed students to rate educational agencies.

In college, she launched LOGUE, an e-commerce platform that allowed students to rent designer apparel and accessories. What started as a bold idea quickly became a thriving business, forging strategic marketing partnerships with global brands like ByteDance, Unilever, and Dove. One of LOGUE’s most notable marketing campaigns was with ByteDance’s Ulike Camera, which brought Lin’s startup on board as its only external collaborator for the brand’s successful #itGirls social media campaign in 2020. Over time, LOGUE grew to over 50 employees, giving Lin a thorough appreciation for how marketing and storytelling can transform a business.

Lin later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in media, culture, and communications, going on to work for global enterprises and industry leaders. But among these professional moves was a personal relocation to New York City, which gave her new insight into how even a bustling social hub like the Big Apple can impose an overwhelming sense of isolation and loneliness on the modern urban woman.

The Hidden Struggles of Modern Women

You might not expect one of the biggest cities in the world to also be one of the loneliest. But the truth is that major cities like NYC are the perfect breeding grounds for an epidemic of isolation. This is perhaps even more the case for professional women, who are trying to balance demanding careers with personal fulfillment.

To make matters worse, the traditional dating space is not designed to meet the needs of modern women. Dating apps, which were initially introduced as the solution to finding romantic connections, have instead become sources of frustration and burnout. The endless swiping and superficial connections have done little else but leave women feeling emotionally drained.

And then there’s the societal stigma of being a career-driven woman in your 30s. It can be harder to find someone who truly seeks to understand your motivations and build a real connection.

This is precisely the problem that Roxy Lin seeks to solve with Le Club.

A New Approach to Companionship

Le Club offers a fresh alternative to traditional dating apps by focusing on providing curated experiences to spark genuine emotional and physical connections. Lin’s approach to Le Club is rooted in the belief that companionship should celebrate autonomy, allowing women to embrace their needs and experience real-life connections without being beholden to societal pressures.

One of its distinguished features is a one-way model selection, which hands control to women and empowers them to take the lead in defining their relationships. Women can curate their matches based on shared preferences, activities, and values, ensuring each interaction is meaningful and aligned with personal desires — doing away with the endless swiping and the need to create the perfect profile to attract the right kind of guy.

Another key feature of the app is its “City Mate” program — a database of vetted, trained partners who can be matched with women in a specific city. These pre-approved individuals serve as guides who can show you around a new city, be a partner for exclusive events, or just be someone to share meaningful moments with. Each City Mate is carefully recruited and undergoes robust training so that they can provide not only exceptional companionship but also emotional support and cultural expertise.

To better curate these city-specific experiences and empower women and their City Mates to enjoy the best the city has to offer, Le Club builds partnerships with local establishments like bars, restaurants, and venues — ensuring that each activity reflects the city’s unique charm and character.

As the startup grows, Le Club has already seen significant traction, having been prominently featured during the 2024 LA Tech Week by a16z. At this event, Roxy Lin organized a successful “Female Investors and Founders Mixer,” which brought together over 200 top venture capitalists, founders, and industry leaders.

Currently, Le Club operates in eight cities on three continents, with a subscriber count of 300 and growing. As the platform grows, Lin plans to expand its base and introduce service plans like 24/7 companionship services, further supporting women’s needs worldwide.

Telling a Story of Companionship

This growth is due much in part to Lin’s marketing expertise. Since launching LOGUE during her first year of college, she’s ingrained authentic brand storytelling into much of her work, knowing that customers will continue to respond to values that resonate with them. She’s worked with several prominent marketing agencies across the country, managing multimillion-dollar campaigns for big-name brands.

With Le Club, Lin brings her marketing experience to the table by crafting marketing campaigns that emphasize female empowerment and emotional value, telling a clear story of crafting a “personalized experience for HER in every city.” This strategy is augmented by brand partnerships that she’s built in several major cities, contributing to local business growth and creating a more intricate companionship experience by suggesting dates with partner brands.

On the tech side of marketing, she’s leveraged data analytics to develop hyper-targeted campaigns, increasing user acquisition by highlighting the intimate, personalized nature of the Le Club platform. She’s also created influencer campaigns on social media platforms like Instagram and Xiaohongshu, achieving millions of views and likes. This included a Women’s Day campaign that reached over one million users.

In doing so, Lin has achieved significant media interest for Le Club, including being invited to participate in a documentary about the platform.

But Lin’s biggest takeaway from these experiences is not limited to the success of her company. She sees her success as an opportunity to do what she calls “mentorship through storytelling.” She hopes that her story of moving to the U.S., launching Le Club, and redefining companionship inspires others to challenge traditional norms and think creatively about solutions in their industries.

Creating Genuine Connections for Women Everywhere

Roxy Lin is determined to change the landscape of modern dating for the better, providing a community where companionship isn’t dictated by expectations but by what feels right for each individual woman.

“Women deserve a space where companionship isn’t a stigma but a celebration of choice and empowerment,” she says. “That’s what Le Club stands for.”

By combining technology and human connection, Le Club has set a new standard for what companionship can and should look like in today’s world: authentic, empowering, and deeply human.
