Kem Cetinay Had A Very Relatable Lockdown Breakup
Even celebs aren’t immune from pandemic dating woes.
Now that Love Island is back for its 2021 series, you can expect to see fan favourite Kem Cetinay a whole lot more. From his daily podcast Love Island: The Morning After (which he hosts with Arielle Free) to the new show about mental health he is fronting with fellow alum Amber Gill, Kem has plenty on the go at the mo. All this has had many wondering, is Kem single? If not, who is Kem Cetinay dating?
Well, while it’s not completely clear, it appears that Kem is currently single, and that his most recent breakup occurred in December 2020. The Love Island champ had been dating legal trainee Lexi Hyzler in 2020, but the pair later broke up due to lockdown and the long distance nature of their relationship after Hyzler chose to fly back to her native Malta.
“Kem and Lexi made a great couple but sadly they have grown apart over the past few months,” a source told The Sun. “She went home during lockdown and since then the travel restrictions have made it really difficult for them to see each other. Lexi told Kem she adored him but didn’t think they could carry on and he agreed.”
Since his split, Kem appears to be living the single life, but did recently hint at a possible reunion with Amber Davies, the fellow Love Island star he won the show with. The two broke up in December 2017 after 132 days together, but a recent TikTok move by the star had fans revelling in excitement about the possibility of a reconciliation.
The excitement escalated further when Kendall appeared on This Morning and admitted that Kem was her type, and that the two had exchanged numbers. However, things seemed to fizzle out shortly afterwards.
Kem may seem to be single right now, but he’s certainly been busy in the years following his time on the island. As well as releasing a single that topped the iTunes chart, he also released a fitness DVD (really), appeared on Dancing On Ice, and launched a web-series, Kem Cuts. He and best mate Chris Hughes also took part in Celebrity Hunted, which was certainly entertaining TV.
As well as gearing up to star on Celebrity Masterchef this year, the TV star’s most recent project is a series on mental health alongside fellow Love Island winner Amber Gill. The six-part series sees ITV2 partnering with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), and will be called The Full Treatment. It will look to address mental health following the deaths by suicides of Love Island stars Caroline Flack, Sophie Gradon, and Mike Thalassitis.
There is no air date for The Full Treatment, but Kem wrote on his Instagram that it would be “coming soon.”
