Ten years ago Keeping Up With the Kardashians first aired. The Kardashians have really been part of reality TV for that long. They are so famous now that they can't go anywhere without the paparazzi following them, but believe it or not, that's not how their lives always were even once the show starting airing. In an as-told-to for Glamour, Khloé Kardashian talks about life at the beginning of KUWTK, and her take will definitely make you see just how much has changed for the 33-year-old and her family.

First and foremost, yes, they chose this lifestyle, which is something the Good American jeans co-founder acknowledges in her piece. "This is what we’ve chosen, and we’ve chosen to be as raw and honest as we can," she says. But the show isn't something she wanted to be a part of at first. "My mom and my sister Kim [Kardashian] wanted to do the show, but Kourtney [Kardashian] and I were really against it," she admits. "We were like, 'No — we love our little life. We love what we’re doing.'"

Before Khloé even agreed to the E! series, she was living an fairly average life — aka the complete opposite of her lifestyle now. As she says,

In 2007, my sister Kourtney and I were living together in a townhouse in Calabasas, California, where we grew up. We were running our clothing store, Dash, and our kids’ store, Smooch, right next to each other in the mall. We were there every day, and we had no other employees: We did everything ourselves, from the taxes to the housekeeping and inventory. We would take our 15-minute lunch break together and eat in the back.

Obviously, this is not how they live now.

Eventually, Khloé and Kourtney caved and decided to film the show. "I remember we found two girls who worked across the street from us and asked them to run Dash and Smooch for three days while we shot," she says. Can you imagine them doing that today when it comes to any of their massive moneymaking businesses?

Khloé was still living a pretty low-key life during the filming of Season 1 in 2007. "I’d still go to the Fantastic Sams across the street from my store a few times a week to get a blow-dry for $25," she says. "I did my own makeup." Yeah, that is far from what is currently showcased on KUWTK. How often do fans watch the sisters getting their hair and makeup done on the show?

After they filmed the first few episodes, Khloé's life pretty much stayed the same. "I remember, during I think the second or third episode, they said, 'OK, we need to pick up three more episodes. I was still the sole employee at my store [Dash]. It wasn’t a tourist attraction or anything." That obviously all shifted once the show became a huge success. E! even developed KUWTK spin-offs, Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami, Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, following the success of the Dash stores.

It has to be somewhat surreal for Khloé (and the rest of her family) to see where they've ended up. "We never could have fathomed the longevity of the show — that we would film 14 seasons and a handful of spin-offs," Khloé admits. She also notes how much their "lives have evolved" since that first day of filming, which is nothing compared to Season 1. According to her, "We film six days a week, 12 to 18 hours a day, every single day." That's a helluva lot of filming.

It's easy to forget who they were when the series first started. They weren't different people, but their lifestyle definitely wasn't what it is now — and here's further proof.

The Opening Credits

This intro is definitely not as sophisticated as the current one. Khloé recognizes how KUWTK became more polished as the seasons continued. "The show is a lot glitzier than it used to be," she says. Also, just look at how little Kendall and Kylie Jenner are!

Kris' House

Remember when Kris Jenner used to live in this quaint abode? Yeah, her current home is just a little bit more lavish.

Shopping Without The Paparazzi

In this scene from Season 3, Kourtney, Kris, and Kim went shopping. There wasn't any paparazzi or fans following them around, unlike every outing they take today.

Kim's Business Dealings

In this Season 3 clip, Kim discusses launching a perfume line (that Kourtney and Khloé aren't happy with) that she hoped would open the door to new business ventures. Do you think she had any idea she would end up as successful a businesswoman as she is today?

Yeah, the Kardashians and their show have transformed greatly since they first came on the scene in 2007. When another decade has passed, they will probably still be ruling the world.
