Have you ever loved a movie so much that you wished you could see it for the first time all over again? Well, if you’re a major fan of Disney’s Pinocchio, you’re in luck. The beloved 1940 classic is getting the live-action treatment with a new film, which will launch exclusively on Disney+ on Sept. 8, 2022. The new Pinocchio will have all of the same magic as the original, but it’s also full of plenty of exciting surprises that fans of all ages will absolutely love.

The Thrilling Adventure Is Still The Same

Although Pinocchio looks a lot different this time around, the plot of the heartwarming story is still the same: A woodcarver named Geppetto builds a wooden puppet named Pinocchio and treats him as though he’s his own son. When Pinocchio is brought to life by a blue fairy, he becomes a “real boy,” and embarks on the adventure of a lifetime.

This Live-Action Film Is Enhanced With CGI

This version of Pinocchio is live-action, but there are still plenty of mesmerizing visuals for fans of animation to enjoy as it also contains CGI. It’s truly the perfect combination of live action and animation!

Your Familiar Favorites Will Be Back (With Fresh Faces)

Many of characters that Disney fans fell in love with in the original version of Pinocchio are back, such as Geppetto (Tom Hanks), The Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), Stromboli (Giuseppe Battiston), The Coachman (Luke Evans), Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and “Honest” John Worthington Foulfellow (Keegan-Michael Key). But there are also a few brand new faces to meet, including Sofia the Seagull (Lorraine Bracco).

The Soundtrack Is Full Of Hits

A major part of what makes Pinocchio so special is the music that tugs at your heartstrings throughout the film, and this is certainly true for the retelling as well. Expect to hear new versions of the songs you remember, such as Cynthia Erivo’s rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star,” mixed in with new original music.
