Peter Krause's 'The Catch' Role is Perfect

by Kenya Foy

The expansion of Shonda Rhimes’ epic Shondaland empire continues. Entertainment Weekly reports that Parenthood actor Peter Krause will star on The Catch , Rhimes’ newest drama series about a fraud investigator named Alice Vaughan (played by Mireille Enos) who finds herself in a sort of role reversal when she’s scammed by her fiancé and sets out to locate him in order to save her career. Krause will play Kieran Booth, the seasoned con man in question who "lives the good life with other people’s money. He’s the best at what he does, but we have to wonder if he’s met his match in Alice Vaughan." Since Parenthood has come to an end, it’ll definitely be worth a watch to see how Krause makes the transition from family man to professional thief. But, given his previous acting credits, I’m sure he’s got this one in the bag.

Obviously being a three-time Emmy nominee plus an official inductee into #TeamShondaland speaks volumes, because everyone knows Rhimes’ series are all about the heavy-hitting actors. Based off some of Krause’s prominent acting roles on series like ABC drama Dirty Sexy Money and the short-lived comedy Sports Night, there are actually some subtle tie-ins from the characters he's portrayed in the past to the description of this shady Booth individual.

Casey McCall — Sports Night

I seriously doubt Casey's comedic timing would mesh well with The Catch, but his smart-aleck, quick-witted nature might be advantageous characteristics for a con man who plans to outsmart a fraud investigator.

Nate Fisher — Six Feet Under

The obvious connection between a con man and an ailing funeral director who takes over the family business is that they both have a ton of experience dealing with inheritances.

Nick George — Dirty Sexy Money

On Dirty Sexy Money, Krause played a lawyer for the richest family in New York, which likely involved protecting his insanely loaded clients from con artists not much unlike Booth.

Adam Braverman — Parenthood

Although Adam was a level-headed family man, it takes a person who can keep their wits about them in order to cultivate a lavish lifestyle on other people’s dimes and not get caught, which may or may not be the case for Booth.

The Catch is set to debut in the fall of 2016.
