If the current Election Day coverage is leaving you weeping into your pillow, then you could use a little uncensored Stephen Colbert in your life. Luckily, the Stephen Colbert Election Special is airing at 11 p.m., 10 p.m. central, on Showtime. As the final numbers start rolling in, Colbert will be waiting with sharp commentary and all the profanity you are trying to refrain from spewing yourself.
The perfectly titled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t? is designed to be a palate cleanser after what has been a long and exhausting presidential race, and having it air on election night is exactly what everyone in the country needs right now. The special will air live, so expect up to date information and reactions from Colbert and his guests.
No matter how you are feeling when the final tallies come in, the host will have refreshing, funny, and no doubt relatable commentary on the long, crazy road that was the 2016 election. And he won't be alone in eulogizing the election; he will be joined by friends like Katy Perry, Patton Oswalt, Nick Offerman, and campaign strategist Mark McKinnon. In other words, it's going to be a good time, you guys — even if the night has you more stressed out than one of those dreams where you have to take a test you forgot to study for.
If you don't have Showtime, don't fret. You can still bask in Colbert's completely uncensored take on the election night results. His opening monologue will be on Facebook Live, and, if you simply can't deal with anymore political talk tonight, the special will re-air on CBS on Friday, Nov. 11.
Granted, that airing will be full of bleeps, but it'll still have plenty of Colbert's wicked sense of humor. For everyone else, the special will also be on the Showtime app, so plan your evening accordingly, fellow Americans.
