We'll always have East High. It's been almost 10 years since the Disney Channel Original Movie that made teen-led song and dance a national treasure, and on Friday, Jul. 24, the High School Musical cast reunited at the premiere for Disney's Descendants, directed by HSM's Kenny Ortega. While Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens weren't at this particular get-together, the rest of the Wildcats were, and their support for their former leader proves that they're all super tight and proud of each other for their lives and careers. I might even go so far as to say that together... they're there for each other... every time? Sorry, I couldn't resist an HSM lyrics quote when it's just so true!
But isn't that so refreshing to think about? Backstage gossip or a Twitter feud may be fun for a while, but it's ultimately frustrating and depressing. I'm much more interested in celebrities that love working together and get along. Disney is a family, and while many High School Musical stars have taken different paths in life, it's great to see that the cast's friendship is stronger than ever. Seriously, with so many members the ensemble on stage, television, and in major blockbusters these days, it's amazing they even find time to see one another!
So many Wildcats! Kenny Ortega, who directed and choreographed all three High School Musicals, is also behind the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie about what happens when all of the most delicious Disney villains have offspring. I like that the cast supports not only each other, but their fearless leader.
If you're loving this reunion, here are 9 other times that the High School Musical cast has shown up for one another, both personally and professionally. Fair warning, they're pretty freakin' cute.
1. Attending The Tony Awards
They may have been frenemies on screen, but Ashley Tisdale loves Vanessa Hudgens so much that she introduced her performance from the musical Gigi at the 2015 Tony Awards.
2. Posting Birthday Parties & Tributes
If you spend enough time on Instagram, you'll find just about every Wildcat's tribute to Tisdale for the star's big day, but I'm partial to this cute one.
3. Attending Each Other's Shows
This summer, Corbin Bleu took to the stage in Los Angeles to play the lead in the rockin' 80s musical Romeo & Juliet: Love is a Battlefield and HSM girlfriend Monique Coleman was in attendance.
4. Showing Support For Theater Debuts
Bleu still had time to see Hudgens in Gigi this summer, though!
5. Hanging Out All The Time
That's Monique Coleman and Olyesna Rulin with Jason Williams, who was a principal dancer in High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
6. Reuniting For A Cause
This photo has Coleman, with Kaycee Stroh and their "former teacher," working for the continuation of Arts Education, a cause which the High School Musical franchise could definitely get behind.
7. Reposting Each Other's Photos
Efron and Bleu, the main Wildcat BFFs, aren't in many recent pictures together, but they're clearly still keeping in touch.
8. Dumping Ice On Each Other (For A Cause)
Ah, the Ice Bucket Challenge was a great time for us to learn which celebrities really loved each other, wasn't it?
9. Participating In Wedding Shenanigans
Finally, I love this little mini-reunion! Coming together almost 10 years later for a wedding? Just like any other High School, y'all, and so, so cute.
Aren't they just the best?
