Your Bartender Will Not Thank You For These Orders
When you're getting a drink at a bar, how the bartender feels about what you're ordering is probably the last thing on your mind. Why would you consider it when it's literally a bartender's job to make what you ask for, right? That being said, I'm a firm believer that in both crowded bars and life, it's always good to be considerate of the people around you. Which is why I've rounded up my favorite responses from this Ask Reddit thread in which bartenders dish on the orders that piss them off. That's not to say that you should stop ordering your custom cocktail altogether, but maybe tip a little extra when you do.
Because I know somebody is going to feel some type of way about this topic, I will say that there were plenty of bartenders in the thread who responded to the effect of, "No drink order pisses me off. It's my job to mix you a great cocktail, and I do it with pride." But in my opinion, that doesn't answer the question at hand and is kind of a cop-out.
So with that being said, these are the drinks that you should maybe think twice about before ordering, if the bar is super packed. Or don't. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life.
Hipsters. What are you gonna do?
The last line is what kills me.
Amateurs.
Ah, the ol' "thinking a Long Island Iced Tea actually has iced tea in it" mistake. This person should've gotten their Long Island privileges revoked.
Know what you want, dammit!
C'mon, guys, at the very least, you need to know what you want before you get to the bar. At least narrow it down to the type of spirit you want. Do something.
No, that's how it's supposed to taste.
If you want your drink to have double the alcohol ... you order a double. That is how it works.
Seriously, know what you want.
I honestly think an important part of becoming an adult is figuring out your go-to drink so when somebody asks what you want to drink you don't stand there stuttering for three full minutes.
Are these even a thing?
So if you happen to frequent the very bar this specific Redditor works at, don't order the espresso martini. The rest of us are probably fine.
Suspicions confirmed: Bartenders hate mojitos.
Sorry, mojitos are too delicious for me to not order them, so deal with it.
Yeah, it doesn't work that way.
You can choose two out of those three things.
Wait, what?
Like, do people actually do this? Is this user a real bartender?
And as a special bonus, here's what you should order instead of asking for "something yummy."
I've just found your new go-to drink order. You're welcome.
