This model is pulling an Anna Wintour — sort of. Naomi Campbell is joining American Horror Story: Hotel, playing a fashion editor whose critiques will come with quite a hefty price. She will face off against Lady Gaga! The statuesque supermodel, who reigned supreme in the '90s, is enjoying a cultural resurgence in this current decade. She had a role on the runaway hit Empire last season and now she's back on prime time.
It's going to be a true fashion war on the small screen, according to TV Line. Campbell will appear for several episodes and it's suggested that she will have hell to pay for her commentary on Gaga's ensembles.
I am sorta hoping Campbell turns up with a chin-length bob with bangs a la Wintour. But whatever the case, there will be some serious fashion deliciousness on the boob tube, thanks to these two.
While we can't wait to see this fashion cat fight unfold on the small screen, both Campbell and Gaga have proven to be fashion icons, rogues, and trendsetters IRL.
At first, you'd think that these two don't have similar aesthetics when it comes to clothes. Campbell has strutted runways with an unrivaled fierceness for years, while Gaga does what she wants, when she wants, and how she wants.
However, they are much more alike than you'd think.
In honor of their upcoming onscreen pairing, how about a fashion face-off right here and right now, comparing nine of their outfits from 2015? Let's do this.
1. Who Needs Pants?
Campbell skipped the pants in favor of panties, a bra, thigh highs, a garter, and a blazer. It was a leggy look.
Lady Gaga often skips pants because they can be so overrated. She also went with a blazer, stockings, and creepers for dirty 'n' disheveled look.
2. LBD
Campbell's long black dress had a tattered, deconstructed vibe that was sexy. She played peek-a-boo with the skirt slit and with the cleavage.
Gaga poured her curvy frame into this slinky LBD, which had a see-through skirt and showed off her amble bosom. Peek-a-boo.
3. The Met Gala
Campbell opted for a slinky green, gold and black gown for the Met Gala, showing off some side cleavage in the process.
Gaga opted for a sweeping, full, and totally voluminous print ensemble for the Met, that also displayed some cleavage. In this case, she and Campbell were samesies but not.
4. Well Suited
The model's chic, fitted pantsuit was so girl boss. The white hue made it feel youthful, too.
Gaga's pantsuit was the total opposite. She went with a loose fit and stripes for her take on menswear.
5. Silver Sparkle
Campbell once again got leggy with a sparkly silver mosaic mini.
Gaga's silver dress looked like liquid metal and showed an equal amount of leg. Here, the lovely ladies were in the same ballpark.
6. Volume Dealer
Campbell swept through the runway in this foil-like, soft crimson dress with a Scarlett O'Hara-like skirt. It did feel very '80s. Just sayin'.
Gaga performed at the Oscars in white, but her gown was of a similar shape, thanks to the full skirt. Their dresses may have been of different colors and cuts, but the fashion plates weren't too far off one another's mark.
7. Precious Metal
Campbell poured her frame into this liquid metal-like dress with one sleeve.
Lady Gaga went with heavy metal when she met Prince Harry.
8. White Light
The model was divine in a swingy little white dress with pleats. It was utterly adorable without the preciousness.
Gaga wore a flowing white custom Azzedine Alaïa gown to the Oscars, which she accessorized with blood red leather gloves. Again, the model and the pop diva could not be more different with their white dress options.
9. Pink Coats!
Campbell tossed a pale pink shrug over her feathery dress. There was a lot of, uh, animal going on with this look.
Gaga's fluffy pink coat had loads of volume. The two were such kindred fashion spirits here.
After perusing their fashions from this year alone, the verdict is in. It's clear that Campbell and Gaga have not-too-dissimilar styles. We're just going to have to watch things play out on AHS: Hotel.
