Taylor Rules The VMA Nominations

by Kelsea Stahler

You could call this the year of many things, but no singular woman has ruled 2015 quite like Taylor Swift. And when it came time for the 2015 Video Music Awards nominations to drop on Apple Music, it was clear that the "Bad Blood" songstress would be able to strut her way to the VMAs and a few Moon Man Trophies. Taylor and her squad have this on lock. Of course, it comes as absolutely zero surprise that Swift — the woman who was able to assemble the largest team of celebrities in a music video ever for her epic space drama, er, I mean "Bad Blood" music video — tops this list. But who's Tay Tay working against? Some pretty formidable talents indeed.

We've got her pal Ed Sheeran competing against her in the Video of The Year category (a lock for "Bad Blood" if you ask me) as well as Queen Bey herself for "7/11." And while I promise that I will shut up about Swift in a minute here, I'd also like to point out that our girl is nominated in every category that she can actually qualify for: Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Best Collaboration (with Kendrick Lamar for, you guessed it, "Bad Blood"). Yep, I think it's safe to say this is the year of Taylor Swift.

Now if only we could predict how VMAs host Miley Cyrus will handle the Taylor of it all...

At least they can agree on cats, right?

Until we know for sure what happens when these forces of pop culture converge, we can peruse the nominees for this year's VMAs and, of course, pick favorites:
