It seems like just yesterday that Sharknado 2 graced our TV screens, but I hate to break it to you: That was a year ago. Time has since moved on — and now Syfy is giving us Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premiering July 22. But, to get you ready for the shark-tornadoes and chainsaws that await, I think it's time for a Sharknado 2 full recap to fully appreciate all the awesome moments from the previous sequel, and to get us all ready for Sharknado 3's carnage. To refresh your memory, Sharknado attacked Los Angeles and Sharknado 2: The Second One unleashed itself onto the City That Never Sleeps: New York City.
The first Sharknado ended with Fin Shepard (played by Ian Ziering) literally chainsawing his way through an angry shark in a classic moment that will live in infamy. Then, Sharknado 2 begins with Fin and ex-wife April (played by Tara Reid) reunited and famous for the Los Angeles heroics of the first movie. They're on a plane headed to New York City to promote April's new book (How To Survive A Sharknado, which you can actually buy) and see some of Fin's family. Naturally, the sharknado has followed Fin across the country, and the movie opens with sharks attacking the plane and Fin must save the day once again — this time, by safely landing the plane. Unfortunately, April loses her hand in the attack, but she thankfully survives. No chainsaw needed for Fin during this attack, but don't worry, he needs them big time as he and April land in New York and meet some very familiar foes once again.
And, there are so many more awesome moments from Sharknado 2 that must be re-lived. Check 'em out below.
Billy Ray Cyrus Plays April's Doctor
Just let that sink in for a second. Miley's dad breaks Fin's achy, breaky heart by telling him that April has lost her hand, but at least she should make a full recovery.
We Meet Fin's Sister, Sugar Ray, & Their Kids
Fin's sister Ellen (played by Kari Wuhrer) and her husband Martin (played by Sugar Ray singer himself, Mark McGrath) split up to go sightseeing in the Big Apple. Martin and their son go to see the Mets most likely lose at CitiField (I say that as a long-suffering Mets fan). Fin's ex-girlfriend Skye (played by Vivica A. Fox) is there, too. Ellen and their selfie-loving daughter take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty.
Meanwhile, once April is stable at the hospital, Fin tries to track down his family to save them from the dangerous weather pattern that's quickly approaching both locations.
And Then The Sharknado Attacks!
Good-bye, CitiField. Hello, sharknadoes.
Richard Kind Stays Behind To Battle Some Sharks
And he gets a home run!
Attack On The Ferry!
Ellen's friend's face gets bitten off by a shark that jumps out of the water, and Ellen tasers the shark! Because she carries a taser.
Attack On The Subway!
Sugar Ray, sorry, I mean Martin, tries to mend fences with Fin, who previously was feuding with his childhood friend once Martin shacked up with Fin's sister Ellen. And then the sharks start devouring the subway train. Even a big bat couldn't protect the MTA from feeling the sharknado's wrath.
The Today Show Reports How Bad The Sharknado Is Becoming
And the sharks even attack Matt Lauer and Al Roker! "This is a twister with teeth," Roker says. "Enough said." Indeed.
Fin Stops For Pizza
Actually, he stops in a pizza place to see his friend Vinnie (Biz Markie) and get supplies. At first, Vinnie says no, but once a shark bursts into the store, Vinnie lets Fin have whatever he needs.
Up To The Roof
NYC is flooding and two sharknadoes are headed to join together to form one gigantic sharknado. Fin, Skye, and company head to the roof and launch bombs. Skye even tries attack the twisters with a sword. Neither way is effective. "Even the sharknadoes are tougher in New York," Fin declares.
It's Up To Fin (Again)
Fin annouces to a crowd from the top of a fire truck that he's going to take on this storm and be a hero. "No one wants to get eaten, but I've been eaten and it takes a lot more than that to bring a good man, a New Yorker down," he declares. And then he whips out a chainsaw, because that's his thing. So from now on, it's a full-on Fin attack on the sharks and twisters.
April Gets A New Hand
April introduces her new hand to Fin right before the big attack. It's no wonder she and Fin got back together.
Fin Flies Through The Air, Attacks Sharks
In the heart of the twister, Fin chainsaws sharks and rides them, getting one to stab itself with the top of the Empire State Building, where he proposes to April. And that means everything is going to be just fine for our hero... until the next Sharknado movie, that is.
