Kaitlyn Responds to Hate On 'Bachelorette'
When you sign up to be The Bachelorette, you should expect a certain amount of hate, especially since Bachelor Nation shows are so live tweet-able. But what Kaitlyn Bristowe has had to deal with this season? It definitely surpasses what anyone in the public eye should have to deal with. All season long — especially after she slept with Nick Viall — Kaitlyn was constantly bashed, and not just on Monday nights. And while she tried to keep a good sense of humor about it, it still royally sucks that there are so many mean people in the world. On Monday night's Men Tell All, Kaitlyn responded to the Bachelorette hate she's gotten this season, and it's heartbreaking to hear what she's gone through.
After sitting down with Chris Harrison, Kaitlyn talked about how she doesn't regret any of the choices she's made, but having to deal with the backlash from those who try to judge her? It's a lot to deal with. She explained it this way:
You know, I really like to think of myself as a tough person, and I think I'm so fine with people disagreeing with me or having their opinions. That's OK. But speaking hate the way people have been is not OK, and I don't know. I'm almost in shock. And the hardest part for me is that it affects my family... I can handle it, it doesn't feel good, but I can handle it, but it's my family. They call me to see if I'm okay.... it's really hard. It's hurtful. I like to think that it doesn't matter what people think about me an45d I try to preach that. I'm gonna be who I am no matter what, but when it's thousands and thousands of comments after comments pouring in of people hating? I get death threats. That hurts.
Then, Chris read just a few of the messages that Kaitlyn has received, and they were horrifying and surprising to hear. The audience was shocked, and so were the guys from her season — and they should be. It's terrible to think that anyone should have to be subjected to messages like that, especially someone as sweet as Kaitlyn.
For the record, if I was in charge of this segment, I totally wouldn't have blurred out those names. Maybe this will be a lesson in cyberbullying for us all?
