7 Reasons J. Law Should Do The Next 'X-Men' Movie

by Alexis Rhiannon

Oh Friday, glimmering beacon of hope at the end of the workweek; how you have already betrayed me. I woke up this morning getting all jazzed up for the weekend, only to get on the internet and discovered that Jennifer Lawrence might not do the next X-Men movie. That's right — a full ten months before X-Men: Apocalypse comes out, and just a day after the first still of her with Evan Peters in the film is published, she's still toying with our hearts as to whether this will be her last appearance in the franchise. Why you gotta do me like this, girl?

Lawrence of course plays the mutant Raven/Mystique in the films, for which she has to be absurdly skinny and painted a bright blue, which I can't imagine is the most appealing set of requirements. She makes this clear to Entertainment Weekly, saying, "I love working with Bryan [Singer, the director], and I love these movies. It’s just the paint." She points out that she was just 20 years old when she signed on to her first film in the series, X-Men: First Class, and she wasn't really thinking about "fumes and toxins," but that's changed significantly in the last five years. "Now I’m almost 25 and I’m like, 'I can’t even pronounce this and that’s going in my nose? I’m breathing that?'"

But, at the end of the day, she isn't writing it off entirely, saying, "There is hope. I don’t want to not be asked." So that's promising, but I want to point our girl in the right direction. Here are seven reasons she absolutely must continue on in the franchise.

Who Are They Gonna Replace Her With?

Mystique is a super important character, meaning I can't imagine she'd be going anywhere, and they'd have to replace her. But here's a problem — nobody looks like Jennifer Lawrence! Nobody! So I'm betting whoever they chose would be super jarring to the senses.

She's In Great Company

Yo, Rebecca Romijn played Mystique until 2006, and she's 42! If she can do it and make it look that easy, so can you!

$$$

What can I say? Franchises make it rain. Use this as a money mint, and don't think too hard about it.

She's Gotta Stay On Set To Make Sure Nicholas Hoult Doesn't Talk Smack About Her

You really want to leave your ex-boyfriend unattended around all your friends? Sure, they're amicable exes, but who knows how long that will last? I've played the ex game before. I know the drill.

I Don't Know If I've Ever Seen A More Star-Studded Franchise

Hugh Jackman? Rose Byrne? Oscar Isaac? Michael Fassbender? James McAvoy? These are names you want your name in lights next to.

Where Else Is She Going To Get Her Action Star Fix?

Don't want to rub this in too hard, but you're almost out of Hunger Games movies.

This Was The Movie That Put Her On The Map

Sure, she got nominated for an Oscar for Winter's Bone, but this, and the Hunger Games was the first time people saw her in action on a more global scale. How can you turn your back on that?

So there you have it, J. Law. Please don't leave us!
