MAC X Selena Is Happening

MAC is notorious for its star-studded collaborations with some of the entertainment industry's top guns like Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding, and Miley Cyrus. For their next project, however, the brand is doing something a little different. The company announced the launch of a MAC line inspired by Selena Quintanilla, aka the late Latin pop princess, and I can barely contain my excitement.

After Jennifer Lopez portrayed the songstress in a film about her life back in the '90s, I became a huge fan of hers. There is no doubt that Selena made a huge impact on the fashion and beauty world with her signature bold red lip, her #onfleek brows (she totally started that trend), and cat eye-lined eyes.

MAC's SVP James Gager dishes, "Selena's talent and beauty, inside and out have, have left a colourful, meaningful impact in the world, that has continued to grow over the last two decades, We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C.'s philosophy." Harpers Bazaar reports. Selena's spirit definitely radiated the pure essence of beauty. She had a colorful personality that showed through her vivid on-stage costumes and makeup looks. Come to think of it, this project is a natural fit.

No information or images of the products have yet been released, but I can only imagine the collection will include bold, loud colors in the form of bright lipsticks, cream blushes, and lots of liquid liner to capture her vivacious spirit.

The line officially drops in late 2016, so we will have to patiently wait until then. In the meantime, let's take a look at Selena's five best beauty moments that surely inspired the MAC collection.

1. Red Lips

Her #1 signature beauty look was, of course, those bright red lips.

2. Cat Eyes

Selena wore her liquid liner in a more horizontal shape, rather than the usual upwards slanted cat eyes we usually see.

3. Bold Brows

I predict a brow kit to be included in the collection.

4. Voluminous Lashes

Look at those gorgeous long lashes!

5. Copper Eyes

While bold thick liner was definitely her thing when it came to eye makeup, Selena usually rocked a pretty shade of copper on her lids.
