Let's Be Nice To Briana Jungwirth

Hey, One Direction fans. How's it going? I know you were all in for a shock on Tuesday afternoon when People reported that Louis Tomlinson is expecting a baby with Briana Jungwirth. While the news hasn't been confirmed yet (Bustle has reached out to Tomlinson's reps for comment, but has not yet heard back), if the story is true, well, it's pretty surprising. And if it's not true... it's still surprising. I mean, this really came out of nowhere! Anyway... it sounds like Briana Jungwirth is going to be in the news a lot more going forward, and I think everyone should come together and agree that being mean to her doesn't help anything.

Now, I'm not going to claim to be some gigantic 1D fan. Do I enjoy their music? Of course. Who on this Earth can resist "Story of My Life"?! Do I find the guys endearing? Sure. They have their moments. And while I might not have my room plastered with pictures of the band à la many a teenager out there, I do follow them pretty closely for work-related purposes, which means I also know what Directioners are capable of. You guys GO HARD. And, for the most part, it's great. It's that kind of passion that makes me wonder what the world would've been like if Twitter existed during the height of *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. But One Direction fans can also be pretty brutal to anyone who interferes with what they see fit for their boys — and I would say becoming impregnated by Louis Tomlinson is not exactly what most One Direction fans see fit for their boy.

But, put yourself in Jungwirth's shoes for a minute. OK, first you're probably pretty excited to be that close to Louis Tomlinson, but next, you'd probably be pretty pissed at and pretty overwhelmed by people being so mean to you all of a sudden. You'd probably just want the best for yourself and for your child and wanna go on Twitter to check for Bachelorette spoilers without being accosted. That's reasonable, right? This lady is just trying to live her life — I life which now may involve having Tomlinson's baby, but you can't fault her for that! If anyone knows you can't fault someone for wanting to and/or being in a position in which you have Louis Tomlinson's baby, it should be One Direction fans who literally want to have their babies.

And outside of the fandom, everyone should just be kind to Jungwirth in genereal. If she is pregnant, I hope that she isn't made fun of for her decision and that she's given some respect when she's inevitably reported on. She's done literally nothing at this point except for (maybe) be expecting a child, and there's nothing wrong with that.

So, I say, spread Louis Tomlinson reaction GIFs all around Twitter. Post that picture of Harry Styles crying if you want to accurate voice your feelings about your favorite heartthrob being "taken." But, let's all — whether 1D fans or not — stray away from the slut-shaming and the cruel jokes and the harassment. Briana Jungwirth is not a public figure and has done nothing malicious.

Now, go forth and think about how crazy this tweet is, because, whoa:
