It seems like hearts might be about to start breaking everywhere, because True Detective co-stars Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch might not be dating. About two weeks ago, Tim Riggins and Allie Hamilton fans went nuts when Us Weekly reported McAdams and Kitsch are dating. Well, according to McAdams, that's not super true. While chatting with Entertainment Tonight Monday at the Southpaw press junket, the actress said about the dating rumors, "It’s funny that the Internet likes to proclaim."
Did you hear that? It's the sound of my heart shattering into a thousand pieces. She even went as far as to call the romance rumors "weird" and "bizarre." She told ET, "[It’s the] weird, weird, bizarre, surreal side of it but I guess you just have to laugh at it at a certain point." The 36-year-old says she is even confused by it all: “I’m like, ‘Who are these people?’ How did they confirm that? I find it really confusing, but yeah, it’s an odd little thing.”
As you can see, McAdams doesn't really confirm or deny dating Kitsch. So, basically there's still a chance (even if it is a super, super slight one) that the two are together offscreen. There's always the chance that they just prefer to keep their love secret (I can hope, OK?). It wouldn't be the first time a celebrity couple kept their relationship on the down-low. Not to mention, Kitsch is no stranger to having his love interests remain mum about their coupling.
Well, I guess I shouldn't say Kitsch, but rather Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights . Remember that time Tim and Lyla Garrity dated? Before they went public with their romance, they were tight-lipped, which had a lot to do with Lyla dating Jason Street, all while she and Tim were sleeping together. Anyways, at first, Lyla tried to deny her feelings for Tim and wanted to keep things all quiet. Eventually, their love won that battle and they became a great couple... for awhile.
Actually, it kind of seems like McAdams and Lyla have a lot in common — at least when it comes to keeping their personal lives hush-hush. I'm getting some major FNL/Lyla vibes from McAdams (which may or may not be because I want this couple to be real so badly), and here's some proof to show just how much the two are alike when it comes to discussing their relationships and feelings, especially when it involves Kitsch.
That Time Lyla Found God
Always the religious one, after she parted ways with both Jason and Tim, Lyla found God again, which was just another way to avoid her true feelings for Tim and distract others from the truth.
All Those Times Lyla Told Tim To Leave
Typical Lyla being all coy and acting like she didn't like Tim, when deep down, she so did.
That Time She Tried To Avoid Tim On The Field
We all saw you makin' eyes at him, Lyla.
All Those Times She Yelled At Him
Lyla, you could yell at and ignore Tim in front of others, but that pretending didn't fool anyone.
See? Both Lyla and Rachel can downplay their relationships and feelings. Let's just hope something like below happens soon, because I need Rachel to gush about Taylor just like Lyla.
Come on, McAdams. This would just be so great. And no, it's not weird that I'm this invested in a celebrity relationship.
