9 Things 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer Taught Us

by Kadeen Griffiths

San Diego Comic-Con was the place to be if you wanted the insider first-look at all of your most anticipated, upcoming movies and television shows. Naturally, that included a look at the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer, the final film in which Jennifer Lawrence will be playing Mystique and the end to the trilogy that was kicked off with X-Men: First Class. The Bryan Singer-directed film features a host of familiar faces, and some new ones, all running headlong into their battle yet: for, or against, En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse. As you might imagine, no one has a good time. Well, except Apocalypse. Although the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer hasn't leaked in high definition on the Internet yet, it's available to watch in low definition, and fans can learn a lot in those short three minutes.

While the plot of X-Men: Apocalypse is currently said to be unknown at this time, the trailer gives us a lot of insight on what to expect, and all of it is epic. Do you love explosions? Do you love character development? Do you love being punched in the face with ALL THE FEELS? Well, then, this is the movie for you. It always boggles the mind how they manage to make each progressive superhero movie bigger and more impressive than the latter, and that's definitely the case here.

So, what do we learn about the plot from the trailer?

1. Mystique and Charles Are Still Family

During one particularly adorable part of the trailer, Charles is picked up by Erik and yanked across the room, while Mystique screams out Charles' name in concern. The longer these two continue on with their sibling bond, the more knowing they end up on opposite sides hurts me.

2. But Erik Is Still Causing Trouble

Did I not just mention him yanking Charles across the room? I love Erik, and I love Michael Fassbender, but can someone remind me why they thought it was a good idea to break him out of jail in Days of Future Past again? How did he help them? Like, at all?

3. Apocalypse Can Control Mutants

At least, that's what's implied by the trailer. The Apocalypse in the comics does have telekinesis, telepathy, and technopathy, so, basically, you do not want to run into him in a dark alley even if you have another mutant on your side.

4. The Planet Is A Mess

Jean Grey dreams of explosions, of destruction, of death, of the planet being completely annihilated. I don't know whether I hope she's dreaming about Apocalypse or about herself as the Phoenix. I mean, at least in the latter case the planet would survive that long.

5. J. Law's Hair Game Is On Fleek

Then again, when is her hair game ever not on fleek?

6. Quicksilver Returns(!!)

Apparently, all you have to do is throw Quicksilver into a movie, and you have my immediate attention. And he is running up a storm in this one.

7. As Does Moira MacTaggart(!!)

Any time I see Rose Byrne, I am filled with a burst of joy.

8. Apocalypse Is Seriously Bad News

He seems to be ready to get his Rule The World game on and, while that plan has never worked out for any villain ever, that isn't to say he won't cause a lot of deaths in the meantime. Like, a lot of deaths. Like a planet-ending amount of deaths.

9. Charles Becomes Professor X

The final shot of the trailer will kick you right in the solar plexus, because a legend has been born right before our very eyes.
