'Game Of Thrones' Summer Style Inspiration Proves That Westeros' Fashion Is Always In
It's not a secret that Game of Thrones has some of the best clothes on TV — after all, it is home to painstakingly-embroidered wedding gowns for young brides who may or may not have had a hand in poisoning their grooms, fabulous reverse-Breakfast Club makeovers (think Sansa Stark), and some of the best cut-out dresses on TV. Plus, the styles incorporate inspiration from everything from traditional Japanese armor to Alexander McQueen as worn by Bjork — a far-reaching range which marks the show as one of the most creatively dressed around.
Suffice it to say, GoT wins just as much in its costume department as it does everywhere else. The only problem? You can't exactly run out to the grocery store in Daenerys' Qartheen gown (I mean, you could, but it's a stunt that would definitely earn you some side-eye). You can, however, go for a Westeros/Essos-inspired look — after all, the women of Dorne and and Meereen know how to do summer style right.

Cut-Out Pinafore Midi Dress
This crisp, white midi dress has all of Dany’s signature panache, plus a cut-out you know she would approve of.
Cut-Out Pinafore Midi Dress, $125, Topshop
Belted Sheath Dress
You could also go for something more flowy and cape-adjacent, like this multi-layered sheath dress…

Plunge Front Maxi Dress With Kimono Sleeves
… or this queen-worthy maxi dress.
Plunge Front Maxi Dress With Kimono Sleeves, $72.49, ASOS

Twist Front Pencil With Metallic Belt Dress
I have a feeling she (and her queen) would get a kick out of this metallic belt — plus the draping on the bodice is pretty darn nifty.
Twist Front Pencil With Metallic Belt Dress, $99.67, ASOS
Slow Goodbye Pleated Dress
I could also see her rocking this electric shade of cobalt.
Slow Goodbye Pleated Dress, $158, Nastygal
Airtex Mesh Skater Dress
Oh, and if you want a slightly less literal take on her style, this summery striped frock also captures her look quite nicely.
Airtex Mesh Skater Dress, $105, Topshop
Myrcella Baratheon
Alas, Dornish transplant Princess Myrcella had a tragically short-lived tenure as the owner of some of the prettiest diaphanous dresses in the entire Game of Thrones universe (which is really saying a lot).

Chiffon Angel Sleeve Dress
Steal her style with some fluttery pink sleeves…
Chiffon Angel Sleeve Dress, $99.67, ASOS
Maxi Dress With Side Splits
… brightly-colored chiffon flowiness…
Maxi Dress With Side Splits, $41.66, ASOS
Ellaria Sand
Myrcella’s murderer, Ellaria Sand, also had some of the best clothes this season — her mourning blacks were magnificently badass, but this dove-gray number she wore for her lipstick-induced assassination is perfect for summer.

Don't You Want Me Baby Dress
Your unofficial brother-in-law could never suspect you of harming his ward in this number.
Don’t You Want Me Baby Dress, $118, Free People
Cold Shoulder Caftan Dress
This caftan is a nice compromise between her harsher mourning garb and her ultra-feminine murder dress.
Cold Shoulder Caftan Dress, $78, Nordstrom
Casual Cold Shoulder Dress
I don’t know why, but I feel like Ellaria would approve of shoulder cut-outs.
Casual Cold Shoulder Dress, $45, Topshop
Nymeria Sand
Nymeria wore some pretty epic pieces as well, between her armor, her Myrcella-esque pink gown, and this strappy yellow number.

Eyelashes Slip
This saffron slip dress is the perfect homage to Nym Sand and her trademark bull whip.
Eyelashes Slip, $68, Free People
Sleeveless Dress
This, too, is appropriately summer-y for the Dorne’s hot climate — and the crocheted lace is a nice touch as well.
Sleeveless Dress, $39.99, H&M
Skater Dress with Ruched V-Neck
This bias-cut silhouette calls back to Dorne’s prerequisite flowy gowns.
Skater Dress with Ruched V-Neck, $45.31, ASOS
Tyene Sand
Out of the three Sand Snakes, Tyene had the most girlish take on fashion, which nicely befit her role as the youngest in the makeshift family (of the ones we got to meet, anyway — in the books, Oberyn has several more daughters).

Applique Babydoll Sundress
Ooh! The perfect dress to seduce Bronn in — you know, without threatening him with deadly poison or taking your top off (unless you want to, of course).
Applique Babydoll Sundress, $68, Topshop
Sleeveless Shift Dress
Another girlishly lacy sun dress that Tyene would surely approve of.
Sleeveless Dress, $69.99, H&M
My Girl Dress
This caped shift dress adds some superhero badassery to its already considerable charms — not unlike Tyene and her signature throwing knives.
My Girl Dress, $128, Free People
Jon Snow
And just in case you were hoping to go for the whole Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch look this summer…
